yeah, linux is running really good on this computer. had it before on a notebook... wasnt so good.

very smooth and perfect for surfing, working,etc.

A: CASP ist so etwas wie ein Wettbewerb. Verschiedene Wissenschaftsteams versuchen, die besten Vorhersagen für eine Reihe von Proteinen zu machen, deren Struktur noch nicht bekannt ist. Es handelt sich dabei um ein blinde Vorhersage. Mit anderen Worten, niemand kennt bisher die 'richtige' Antwort. Das wird sich aber bald ändern. Und dann können 'Noten' für die Antworten vergeben werden, wenn man so will, und man sieht, wer die genaueste Vorhersage getroffen hat. CASP läuft alle zwei Jahre und ist im Prinzip dazu gedacht, den wissenschaftlichen Fortschritt der letzten zwei Jahre zu demonstrieren.

Sobald CASP vorüber ist, wird sich Rosetta wieder der Weiterentwicklung seiner wissenschaftlichen Arbeit und der Programmierung neuer Techniken und Ansätze zur Lösung des Proteinrätsels widmen. Man wird die eigenen Techniken gegen bekannte Proteinstrukturen testen und die Modelle und Methoden verfeinern, mit deren Hilfe sie erzeugt werden.

i think im going to run linux on my cleron rig as soon as my new main rig is up and running.
atm i cant use linux since i just play too often and i dont know enough about linux to use it as my main os.
(aaaand yes, i will have questions once ive installed linux, thats for sure :D.)
5400/19500 under winxp... if i can run it at 4.9ghz under linux this will be a very nice cpu for just 70€ :D

btw: going to reinstall rosetta+optimizations tomorrow...so if we dont reach 10k today we will surely do tomorrow. :-/

e/: celeron 352 up and running... 4.95GHz-> 5529/19386
doesnt give us as many points as those nice conroe rigs but as we say in germany: Klein Vieh macht auch Mist :D

Hey guys, i just read about all this stuff goin on with people calling us cheaters at the rosetta forum and the mods not doing anything.
Although i think there should have been someone to stop posts like that, it's defenetly not worth killing the whole project - in my opinion.
How do you feel about this?

even I found the wrong words for Fr3ak's overclock in his topic (sorry mate wasn't anything personal, could have kept my opinion for me) he manged to make me interested in this card. When I saw prices I was like :eek:
Should be fun oc and modding it as if something goes wrong, it's not that much money lost :cool:

hmm to bad my a64 isnt going over 2.7 stable... but benching is always fun... all the tweaks should help me beating some scores :)

I would welcome to see some of you re-joining the D2OL xs_team_germany.
As there was a mess-up with nodes create before a certain date, just install again and use our login we had back in the days to create a new node.

I am not going to run anything 24/7 for several reasons. There are some nice dc projects, that I think are worth crunching for (QMC, BBC climate stuff and several others).
I am still fixing my Linux install, so it could take a while until I can make a switch.
But I wont run D2OL ever again, for several reasons too ;)
