I was wondering if I got a 172W TEC for my opteron165 if I could use my current http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817711002 (OCZ Powerstream 520W)
for use with a 172W or 226W pelt. I got an overclocked 7800GTX , 1 DVD R drive, 2 HD, floppy, overclocked opteron 165 (2700MHZ @ 1.65V) and 2x512mb OCZ plat overclocked (using 2.9V) or would I need new powersupply? Looking to get about 0C on load.

have you read the sticky's about tec-cooling
i think tec-cooling isn't the right way to cool an opteron 165,
and 0°C @ load with a 226w tec? that's a dream...
go for phase change

Well, I didn't think 0C was too unreasonable, since I have water cooling already, and a pretty good kit too. I Will look more into the stickies.

ok it's not impossible, but you need about a 418W TEC and you have to run this on max. watt,
the tec take an electric power of about 30A*24V=720W
if Qc = 180W, you have a dT=35K from warm to cold side of the tec
with your watercooling you need to cool 720W(TEC)+180W(CPU)=900W
if your water is 25°C, your max. dT from the core to the water is 10K
and i think this is pretty hard to realize :fact:

Oh wow. Well forgive me im a noob in TECs hehe. It doesn't seem that TECs are the way to go for me. Thanks for the help. I think Ill look into a DIY Phase.
