Reviews of the FX60 have started to pop up on the net...

Of particular interest is the one over at amzone.

http://amdzone.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=Sections&file=index&req=viewarticle&artid=222&page=1

3.0ghz on water @ stock voltage and 3.2ghz@1.5 vcore.

There's also a review at Hexus.net and Xbitlabs.com! :)

Enjoy...

i dont see how 3ghz @ 1.456v is stock voltage though. As stock measured by cpu-z is 1.312v

I believe the second screenie was supposed to be @ 3.2 GHz..

Probably one of the reviews to spend time and read

Stock voltage according to CPUZ is different for EVERYONE..

for isntance my Ultra-D with CPUZ says 1.36 volts, when it is infact running at 1.44 volts..

Saddness fills my heart...no more love for the socket 939. According to the Anandtech article everything is moving over to the AM2 socket. =T

I guess it will be good once we find out the benefits of DDR2 with the AMD memory controllers.

Seems like a little bit quicker version of the x2 4800 and nothing more. fx57 beats it in most of the tests (yes!!!).

which review are you talking about? the anandtech review the fx won gaming benchmarks by we're talking like 0.5% or so and lost every other benchmark, encoding, business, content creation EVERYTHING by quite a bit.

0.5% ahead in gaming despite a 200Mhz clock advantage in games that DON'T do better with dual cores(well they do now that gfx drivers are kinda helping out a bit) and as soon as more games come out the single cores will win nothing.

also, what did you expect of the fx60, its still same core as 4800+. are they supposed to be adding more cache to fx's when it goes to 0.65nm?

Default shloud be 1.35 or 1.4 depending of the mobo (both value are on datasheet)

Some have 1.32v in cpu-z some a little more or less ;)

techreport.com has compared the FX60 against the Pentium EE 955, and guess what? The FX mops the floor with the EE in most benchmarks ...

^^ what about vid/audio encoding?

Celestar

the AMD seems to win there too. Only real advantage of the 955 seems to be the better OC potential, but who would care about that on this site? :P

no, the dual cores are really 1.3 or 1.35v stock ;)

"The move to 65nm has made sure that AMD can no longer claim that they consume less power under full load than Intel does at idle" Oh no....they shrunk their die size by 15nm and amd's STILL consume 57w less power at full load...AND wins the benchmarks...I love amd

Well Socket 939 isn't dead..... Amd will surely be supplying all of us with 65nm cores for it laster this year. just liek they said they will NEVER have 90nm chips for 754, well there are!

Isn't that usually the case with every brand's flagship product?

Nah, don't know where You've been looking lately but ... I personally wouldn't say that.
2xFX55 for the price of one FX57 feels like a ... steal.

Doesn't it?

This may be my next chip, bye bye crappy s754 :slapass:

They shrunk their die size by 18.5%, and made their processor much easier to produce with their 2x81mm2 configuration vs AMD's 199mm2 Toledo, 65nm improves NetBurst a bit but NetBurst has inherent weakness that won't be corrected till we move to Conroe on 65nm :)

Presler 955 is slower but it doesn't look as bad now as it did, with the Athlon 64x2 4800+ vs Pentium EE 840.

lol I just thought it was funny how he put that...I'm not a fan boy by any means, I buy whats best for the money. but to say "hey look! now intels idle power comsumption is lower than amd's at full load!" is just hillarious...I'd love to see dothan duallies.... Oh and I second the HOLY CRAP every is exclaiming at the price, these shouldn't be over $1099 in my opinion (and thats even rediculous)
