Just picked up a x2 4200+
CDBHE 0527TPBW
0029 batch number
is there a good chance this could be a good clocker or should I wait for something better?

that batch no. says it all. Its going to be a really good clocker. Prolly around 2.75 or so on both cores. I would say keep it. CDBHE is the disabled cache Toledo core if i am not mistaken.

really? my 146 CABNE 0530AMPW #0001 isn't really remarkable, topping out just over 3ghz with like 1.55-1.6v, depending on how my rig feels ;)

Sweet.
One thing I dont get tho. Disabled cache Toledo core...?? Are you saying its pretty much a 4400+ Toledo minus half the cache? So, the Manchester is actually a Toledo core with 512 cache.

But he didn't get an Opty, he got a 4200+.
Some 512kb dual cores are actually 1mb cores that have half of the cache disabled, for whatever reason.

well then i guess we both have the same cpu from VandiAMD. I got one from the same batch as urs , mine was #37. Does 3.0 ghz on air at around 1.55V . Pretty similar to yours. Im putting it under a good watercooling setup sometime soon. Lets see if i can push it ne higher. Right now I am stuck with a CABGE 150 opteron which wont for the love of god break 3 ghz barrier. It does 2.95ghz just fine. :stick:

are people finally starting to really notice the batch number, been saying it for 3 years and most people don't care.
cos everytime i manage to get a low batch number shockingly it overclocks way better.had a 005 3500+ newcastle from first batch in shop i worked, did 2.75Ghz stable at 1.7v, did 2.85v bench stable, this is like what, 14-15 months ago or something.
guys in the states are fairly lucky, there almost no shops in the uk where you can go and find a big store where you can probo persaude people to let you look through batch numbers for one you want. the store i worked only got 4-5 of any decent chips in at any one time but they are an internet only store, complete luck to get anythign good, no other places in uk at all really. :(
we need bestbuy and stuff to come to the uk so badly.

there are a few places in the uk, one big road in london has so many comp/elec based stores but they are soooo freaking expensive, you can end up paying like 1/3 more than online easily :(
