i would like someone to verify the following with me. When rosetta is working is it safe to assume tht my PC is going to be using alot more power than when it is idle? The answer to this question is most definately YES, the reason im asking this is because the computer is completely responsive when asked to do a task in comparisson when running prime95 where the PC is alot less responsive. Although both programs are keeping the CPU at 100%.

I need a way to work out how much power the CPU use's when it is under load, in comparisson to when it is idling so that I can estimate how much more electricity I will be using. This is important for me, because I am living at home and electricity is getting very expensive in Cyprus and dont think its fair tht my parents should fork out for me whilst im running this proggie.

Yes I could get a job, but am currently in the process of setting up my own business :)

Hmmmm, difference between idle and load with your single core is less than a 100W lightbulb used only when it's dark I reckon.

If you are that worried about it I would recommend you getting a meter that you can plug into the wall and plug your PC into that and see what it's using.

My idea, take the money you would spend on watt meter and give it to your parents.Probably make the payments an 3 months electrical usage :) Also conserve electricity where possible, by then you will have a good business and write the usage off on taxes ;)

A killawatt! I have one of those, works great.

Tells current watt usage, line voltage, line frequency, amperage, keeps track of kilowatt hours, and even tells volt amps. As it has already been said, for $30 you might be better off using that money to pay towards the bill. What's the rate over there for electricity?

I have battery backups on all my rigs... the software tells me what I'm using with what's plugged into them... really handy!
