Hello,

As I noted in my last thread, I am a complete newbie when it comes to overclocking. I bought a 146 Opteron (CAB2E) and DFI LANParty UT NF4 ULTRA-D

I am wondering what my first steps should be with regards to pushing this chip up around the 2.8 mark (which is what seems to be the norm with this stepping)

Currently I have speedfan installed and it's reporting my cpu as 29C under load and 38 under load. (Prime95 torture test)

Could someone direct me in the correct way to start overclocking. I don't really want to mess around with voltages as I believe that could provide irreversable bad effects.

Thanks for your help.

You just happened to miss the incredibly bold text at the top of the forum?

What are you talking about, all it has is a forum that has people posting what they are getting out of their chips. I need to know how to overclock my chip.

I don't understand, am I completely dence? I have checked all the bolded stickies and everything in the "best of AMD" stickies and I cannot find any guides or information on overclocking, just how well others are doing.

Wheres your sense of adventure? Whats so bad about having a go yourself and seeing where you get before asking for help? If your question was 'I have reached XXXXmhz with X.XXV etc. how can I go higher?' people would have something to say to you, at the moment what your asking is for someone to write a little essay about how to overclock that has been written in different forms thousands of times on forums around the world.

Go and find a less 'xtreme' forum and have a look through the stickeys there, there will a basic overclocking 101 at any number of noobish forums.
