Pump Question: has anyone ever thought of...

... using an efi automotive fuel pump? 12V... I am not sure about the actual flow rates and well, anything else to be honest, but there would be plenty of them @ your local salvage yard for cheap if it would work... any comments appreciated, thanks!

fuel pumps are designed to run at 40-50 psi whereas water cooling needs more like 10psi. also flow rate is too low at 100ish gph. however they might work at a lower pressure high flow but most of them are fairly power hungry so there are better pumps out there.

I thought it seemed just too simple and someone here would have done it if it were the case I just stole a hagen802 powerhead(pump) from my aquarium:D that runs @ 400gph so I don't need one but thought it could be a cool alternative since a lot of car stuff is built very well... bosch etc... allI have to do now is drill a hole through my wall and run the hoses and wires to the relay and I am in bussiness! :banana:

Also they generate a lot of heat. Just wanted to pop that in there.
