x1800xt and dell 2001fp owners...

after turning off my monitor for a while, say overnight or something while the computer is on...

when i wake up in the morning and i turn the monitor on...it takes like a good minute or so to get a display...

the screen is black and the power LED's are obviously on...its like the blankscreen screensaver, but i dont have a screensaver set and the power is set to stay always on for the monitor

i've tried both the dvi connectors and it still happens...blank screen for a minute after a long period of being off

none of my video cards done this before...x800xt, x800xtpe, 6800gt, 7800gtx

is something wrong?

also, when alt tabbing out of a game, it'll go to windows desktop and there is always a flash of green for a quick second then all's normal again...does this happen for you too? happened to two x1800xts for me cuz i thot one was defective.

I dont have the problem you describe but I also don't use that monitor. What I do have with my x1800XT is a screen flash/flicker every once in awhile an dI have no clue why.

I dont think its bad. To rule it out try another monitor. It may be the monitor having issues with the card not the card itself. Since no one is responding it may be because no one has that monitor yet plenty of users with X1800XT cards and other monitors are issue free. You state this only happens when the monitor is off yet the system is off. Don't do that then. Why not leave the monitor into standby instead of powering it off but leaving the system running.

If the card is fine after it shows picture and 3D works without issue I would say your card is just fine.

I have X1800 XT on Dell 20' and had the same problem as you when I used Cat 5.12 and 5.13 from ATI. When I switched back to the original VD CD driver (Cat 5.11) ==> everything is working fine now.

does 5.11 have dual core enhancements? if not, i can live with the flash of green...lol

but this damn blank screen is bothering me...argh

no issues ever in 3d mode, so i guess the card is fine...prolly a driver issue...

i only have the 5.13 drivers and wdm drivers installed, i unclicked ccc when installing
