i cant seem to make my X1800XL stable..... i have a DFI lanparty nf4 ultra-d... using a 435W enermax 12v-33A but with a 20 pin atx connector.... even at stock speeds games like fear lockup or crash in a matter of minutes.... ati tool artifact scanner shows artifacts even at stock with temps under 70*C... i also tried cat 5.11s with no luck..... i checked the 12v rail voltage and the lowest it dropped to was 11.71V

You're using a 20 pin PSU from a blah company and it's drooping the 12V A LOT. Doesn't matter if it solves the problem or not, you NEED a new PSU.

I think, but am not sure, that the lack of a 24 pin power cable is your problem. Also have you plugged in the other power plugs on the Ultra-D [molex & floppy & 4-pin]?

Definentally. I reccomend the Tagan 2Force 480w-U22, or the OCZ Powerstream 520w.
EDIT: afi, cm'on Enermax r0x0rs :).

i would say around $130-140 cdn.... prices are different in the states.... for eg enermax powerstream 520W is $150 cdn here which is pricy..... currently im looking at the enermax FMA 535W... its SLI certified and is on the "A" list for recomended PSUs for SLI/Expert on DFI-Street... its $100 cdn
ohhhhh jeez. i had the same problems as him. i had to rma my card for a new one and now im all fine.
the reason im thinking its not the card is i did manage to run the card at 655/1440 and get a score of ~9400 3dmarks in 05.... if the card was the problem i dont think it would oc at all
EDIT: also do i need a 6 pin converter with 2 male molex connectors?... the one that came with my card has one male and one female

A quality psu is a pretty good investment which has a much longer life than most cpu's/video cards and doesn't depreciate as fast in the case you would want to sell it.
but with regards to your OP I would rma the card after checking and replacing the TIM on the heatsink

just got a new PSU... enermax FMA 535W 12V (1-18A, 2-18A) SLI certified 24 pin.... same :banana::banana::banana:... the freezing is caused from the core when oced only..... the artifacts are caused from the memory even at stock voltages and clocks... i dono what to do.... i could return it and get another one.... but what if theyre all screwed up like this?
