HELP norton messed up my 300gb data drive

I need some help. Why did I install that Norton system works 06? I insalled norton was having a few problems so I decided to format my os drive today during the snow storm. That drive is fine but my 300 gb data drive is gone from my computer. I can see the drive in disk management but looks like the partition may be messed up. On top where it lists the drives it has data2 listed which is what I named one of my two partitions on that drive. On the bottom in the box it shows data2, 279 gb. it doesn't show the two partitions like it used to. I can't get into the drive because there is no drive letter and i cant asign one. If I try and boot off that drive norton go back pops up with an error. Thats how I know norton did it. I really need some if not all of the data from that drive. I was thinking maybe I could use partition magic and maybe make one big partition on the drive. I really could use some ideas

Partition magic sounds like a good idea. Probably the best way to do things.

Thanks for the reply. Partition magic didn't do it. I did a search and found a program (cant remember the name) and it converted type 44 (I think) to ntfs. I still lost one of my partitions but all my critical stuff was on the one I retreived. That is the end of Norton for me. I went to Nod32 and use my router firewall.
