Roughly seems it scales as
GPU
1.425-1.45v = 756mhz
1.475v = 762mhz
1.5v = 783mhz
1.525v = 789mhz
1.55v = 796mhz
1.575v = 803mhz
Mem seems to have gone from
2.097v = 909-936mhz
1.933v = 945mhz
1.949v = 954mhz
1.955-1.965v = 963mhz
1.979-1.987v = 972mhz with slight artifact in 3dmark05 GT3

I have never flashed to X1800XT PE bios because there's no need for it since my card on stock bios original out of the box does 756/882 easy with just using ati tool to set 1.45 (1.48v according to rivatuner monitoring) and X1800X oc'ing tool to clock in 2D mode as per SIOUX's instructions :)

now working on mem and like the progress
909-918mhz no mem volts needed
927mhz mem undervolted from 2.097v to 2.034v
936mhz mem undervolted from 2.097v to 2.037v okay

how he attach a 92mm fan to VF700 ?
He removed the stock fan and zip tied the Tornado to the heatsink itself. I think we'll try to zip tie it directly to the video card to help the VF700 make better contact. As is the VF700 can wiggle around more than he'd like.

The next step......
Scary stuff... it's my first time ever water cooling a video card :woot:
I probably put off GPU water cooling for numerous reasons one being i can't volt mod if my life depended on it and straight water cooling for stock volt cards don't bring much gain. But along comes HIS X1800XT with software adjustable voltage for GPU and mem :D
I'm using the following:
Dangerden Acetal Maze4 Low Profile water block with 1/2" barbs
Swiftech MCP655 pump
Radiical.com.au Ultra triple fan single pass radiator
3x Xinruilian RDL1225S 120 mm fans (28dba/1700rpm/71cfm) pulling
Clearflex 1/2" tubing
Radiical Brass T-line piece
Nulon Ultracool Green coolant mixed in ratio 1:10 with distilled water
Kayl's (http://i4memory.com/member.php?u=381) custom 100W psu with auto startup wire to power MCP655 and fans
I originally wanted to use my MCP600 pump but that went down the sink read http://i4memory.com/showthread.php?t=2048 :heh:
Pictures:
There aren't any right now because the gear is placed in my utility trolley's 2nd tray pictured here http://www.fileshosts.com/DFI/NF4_SLI_DR/aircon_cooled/html/. Due to the placement of gear, you wont get any clear pictures of the gear once it's installed and I didn't bother taking pics when installing. Will take some later if possible :)
Here's Kayl's custom 100W psu i'm using - i'm using the one marked 13.81v which is the max adjustable 12V voltage i can set if needed :)

Well just prelim looping ATI Tool beta 11 'show 3d' stress test.
oc'ing using ATI Tool beta 11 max = 762mhz at 1.45v and locks up higher
but using good old method of X1800 Overclocking tool for clocking max i get so far is:
GPU
783mhz at 1.5v
789mhz at 1.525v
796mhz at 1.55v (gpu idle = 46-47C and gpu load = 51-52C)
Mem
seems to lost mem max of 909-936mhz with the puny Zalman ramsinks - past 769mhz GPU can't get mem past 873mhz ??????
Tried upping and lowing mem volt doesn't seem to help ... SIOUX how ya manage 970-999mhz on mem ?
I think i need some fan cooling over ramsinks to see if that helps :)
edit: realised the 2x side 120x25mm 71cfm fans were turned off so no additional air flow was happening - turn them on and bam mem @920mhz and rising so far :D

Yup separate loops Corsair Hydrocool 200EX 1/4" tube for cpu and separate DIY loop for X1800XT heh
Extra psu is it can adjust 12v voltage to 13.81v for overvolting the pump for more pressure/flow = better performance that i had in mind for MCP600 pump but as in first post, the MCP600 went down the sink heh so changed to MCP655 which doesn't need that much overvolting at all so have it at 12.18v

IMO, the fin density on those coppe ramsinks is much too high. You woud need tons of CFM to actually get enough air through them to make them effective. As they are right now, they are essentially just copper bricks.
A ramsink with 1/2 the fin density would allow for much better convection and would require a weaker fan to make them useful.

I'll take a run for it in a week or so. I ordered a X1800XT and will put it on my maze4. Its not going to be long before my X2 goes on phase change. After the phase 12k should be doable unless the card doesn't OC well. Or I fry something :eek: Note that post phase change the video card is going to be the only thing water cooled so the temps should be fairly good.

Roughly seems it scales as
GPU
1.425-1.45v = 756mhz
1.475v = 762mhz
1.5v = 783mhz
1.525v = 789mhz
1.55v = 796mhz
1.575v = 803mhz
Mem seems to have gone from
2.097v = 909-936mhz
1.933v = 945mhz
1.949v = 954mhz
1.955-1.965v = 963mhz
1.979-1.987v = 972mhz with slight artifact in 3dmark05 GT3
To give you an idea of power draw at load for
Opteron 170 @2950mhz at 1.62v
Corsair Hydrocool 200EX
HIS X1800XT @803/972 1.575v/1.985v
4x 80GB Hitachi 7K80 SATA II raid 0
1x 250GB Maxtor Maxline Plus2 PATA
3dmark05 load = 580W
Load includes
- 61W from BenQ FP2091 + BenQ FP91G LCD monitors
- 34W from MCP655 pump + 5x 120x25mm fans + dual LCD monitor probe
- ~14W Corsair Hydrocool 200EX
- 580W - 104W = 476W for system at load

I used1.6v (1.575 ati tool) wich is the max volt we can set without voltmod. the card never crawled over 40 degrees:)
with chilled water the card was never over 20 degrees load 1.6v. Hope there will be a hardmod available soon, so i can give the card more power.
But i dont have my club-3d anymore. got i price on it today that i could not resist hehe. gonna try a gecube or msi now i think.

thanks thats what I was thinking
I didnt have the time to do much testing, but I think playing with the ram voltage didnt change anything for my max oc... it must be around 915. By using an extra fan I should go higher but I dont think its worth the extra noise :s
By the way I cant use the OC tool correctly I only use ATITOOL can u help me with that?

hmmm. thanks both you guys again.
So u think Ill be able to increase the ram mhz with OC tool?
After finding the best spot, how can I keep these settings when the system boots?
Maybe I have an old version of OC tool but it didnt seem to have such an option. Should I only use atitool for that?
Last question: the voltage regulator temps go near 100C !!!
Should I cool it and how? Do u have a pic of it? :p:

Why are all the Overclocker tools set to 2d? I'm very worried about that. Mainly becuse I know of one person that is on their third X1800XT. ATI support said not to touch 2d but go crazy with 3d. I mean messing with the 2d voltage and no video on post.
eva2000
01-14-2006, 01:24 AM
When you disable ati services you disable ATI CCC's ability to jump from 2d to 3d voltages so voltages are 24/7 set to 2d only hence why you only clock with X1800 oc'ing tool in 2d clock mode
has always worked for me
right now playing with different ram to see if i can get over 12k :D

Damn, obviously I must have one of the worst clocking X1800XT out there :D
Will give the links to the benches tomorrow, but just benched my Opteron setup in sig at 0C ambient air, and got 10600+ 3d2k5 and 20600+ 3d2k3 with Opty @ 2914Mhz / 180 divider, and card at 749/855 Mhz. However, while it would be reasonable to expect 2900 Mhz benchable from a 0530TPMW dual core Opty on cold air and Big Typhoon along with 270 Mhz 2-2-2 RAM, for the card clocks mentioned earlier I need 1.525 VGPU :eek:, and cannot get over 760 core or 860 ram without 3dmark2005 showing the red grid and freezing the system :slapass: no matter what I try. Still stock cooler on the card, but load temps never reach 55C, and the card idles at 30C 100% fan speed.
Using Cats 5.13 and ATItool (beta10) + Overclocking tool o/c method, just the one thing what's weird is that Overclocker doesn't show any voltage changes when changed with ATItool. Other than that, I do not see doing anything wrong, thus, I simply cannot believe I've got such a bad clocking card :confused:

i have a sealed case in the summer for the past 4 years i'v been using a ac unit
to pump on cold air.
then in the winter i have 2 hoses that suck in cold air with a filter running 4 92mm tornados.
case temps are usually 6 to 10c on a mildly cool day here when it gets real cold the case temp hits -5 to -10c cpu 5 to 15c gpu = 2 to 7 c.
the ac dosent get as cold for me but still allows for decent overclocks and extended hardware life.

think info is in this thread..first post to be exact ;)
high mem clock = undervolt mem volts from 2.097v stock to 1.985-1.993v :)

I would need to reload fear.

sorry eva2000 I know this is a slightly old thread, but I had a question about the voltages. Im using an all air setup w/ the stock ati heatsink on my x1800xt, and was wondering what a safe voltage would be for my vgpu and mem. Im idling at about 55 C right now. and will atitool change the voltages for me??

probably around 1.4-1.475v if you can keep it under 70C under full load
