Info on Dual Booting

I recently had a power surge that has fubared my windows install. So I want to back up my data, re-install windows and dual boot with a linux distro...maybe ubuntu. What Do I need to do to partition it correctly and where is the best place to get a legal XP install...my current one may or may not be of the legal persuasian:stick:

To make more than one partition on a disk is easy if. Do you need to keep all of the data on your disk or will it be formatted? If you need to keep the data you can use partition magic. If you dont care about the data on your disk you can use Fdisk through dos on a windows boot disk. The best place to get a legal copy of XP would be an electronics store near you...
