I've had several versions of Linux on my comps b4, but I've never learned how to compile the kernal or do anything complicated :D So I'm usually stuck with what happens at the install.
Just wondering if there are any Linux distro's that will install the drivers for everything in my system listed in my sig. I'd like just to play around with the OS a little bit again. I wouldn't even mind learning how to do some serious stuff with it but would like my comp to atleast work right from the install.

i suggest ubuntu, i hand out the livecds regularly and people seem to do just fine
installing the drivers wont be completely automatic, but they are in the package manager which has a nice frontend and is easy to use

Another vote for ubuntu. I installed it on my server (P3 800), and compiled a new kernel following some generic debian howto. It really was pretty easy. The hardest part from my first install, which was on my AXP rig, was configuring X with ati's firegl driver. Nvidia has much better linux driver support. D/l the newest livecd ISO and give it a whirl. If you like it, then you can install it.

ubuntu it is, downloading now.
Major , i just ran kubuntu X64 as a live dvd and all I can say is wow! Even running live it was much faster than windows. I would install to my hd if I could only get my wireless network to work in linux.....

yea I did the same thing here, used the live CD to check things out
I'm not sure that I can install using the NF4 raid arrray so I'm putting a couple of 200gig drives I had laying around in my rig and IMO I'll install it later on tonight.
