cant, Multiplier is hardcoded into the chip.

Buy an Engineering Sample.

some lga 775 ones let you choose between some multipliers

Yes, you can choose 14 or the stock multi on those that support the slowing down on some Asus (?) boards.

If you find out how to unlock Intel CPUs, it will be one of the greatest discoveries :p:

Depends on your mobo. P4C800E-Deluxe does support it, but I believe newer revisions of the processors were locked or smthing.

The CPU LockFree feature is nothing more than a exploit of the CPU security functions. There are 2 Thermal guidelines - loadline A and B (for Socket 478. They are called 04A and 04B on Socket 775). The loadline A requires a motherboard designed for 115 watt CPU's, but if a loadline A CPU is inserted into a motherboard designed for 84 watt (loadline B) the multiplier will drop to 14x resulting in 14x200=2800MHz and then neither the motherboard or CPU will be harmed.
The CPU LockFree feature when enabled will tell the CPU that it's a loadline B (04A) motherboard and thereby forcing the CPU to drop it's multiplier if it's loadline A (04B).

The only CPU's consuming enough watt to be rated loadline A (or 04B) is the topmodels.

CPU lock free compatible CPU's :

Socket 478:
- 3,2GHz Prescott - c0 + e0 stepping (not the d0)
- All 3,4GHz Prescott's

Socket 775:
- 550 d0 stepping (no other stepping)
- All 560, 570, 660 and 670 CPU's.

Use Intel processorfinder tool (http://processorfinder.intel.com/scripts/default.asp) to find the sSpecs if you wanna seek one -

I have a Intel P4 550, d0.

Can i change my multiplier?
In my bios there is only two settings, x17 or x14.
Right now i use 236x17, but i would gain more if i could use 266x15.

You can only do 14x and stock multiplier (17x in your case)... and that would still require a motherboard that supports the feature. I'm not sure who else than Asus supports it, but there are some.

My motherboard does support it, i can choose between x14 and x17, but nothing else.
I've got a Gigabyte GA-8aenxp-d motherboard btw, and its socket 775.

my max 3 with latest BIOS lets me select either 17 or 14 for my 3.4E.
