I usually use Linux or FreeBSD, but I want Windows for some screenshots and to verify temperature readings in Unix are at least what the Windows drivers think.

The problem now is that I cannot figure out how to make my Windows 2000 boot harddrive start up with a SMP-capable kernel to be able to dual-prime.

I found instructions for XP, but not for Win2k.

Right click "my computer" and got to properties. then change the computer to ACPI Multiprocessor. Then reboot and check the taskmanager to make sure it sees both processors

Thanks.

Turns out in Win2K it's not quite that easy, it doesn't present that menu.

You can however choose to replace the "driver" for the CPU and then select APIC Multiprocessor in the driver selecting page.
