I will soon get a Pentium-D 955 presler, but i want to keep my SLI cards- Which mainboard will run with 955 XE + SLI?

Depends which gfx's you've got. There is no support for 7800 and Intel SLI from what I've read.

That's on the P5WD2(or any Intel chipset) but with an NF4 chipset should be no problem. It's just that they don't oc as well as Intel chipsets. :)

Like you said, nF4 doesn't even comes close when we talk about clocking.

since 955 EE is multiplier UNlocked ocing should not be a problem...
But VictorWang mentioned that 955 will not run with nf4 intel??
Can sb confirm?

New Presler won't run on Intel Nforce4 chipsets. SLI (unless one is using *tweaked* drivers) won't run on Intel chipsets. Thus so far, officially 955XE + SLI is simply not possible.
I would wonder if we don't see SLI support on the 975 chipset soon though. For me it's very simple. I've had 3 different Nforce4 Intel boards, and they pretty much all stink for overclocking, including the new P5N32-SLI.
Personally I'm holding my breath to see when ATI's x1900 is hitting the market.
I'm completely done with Intel + SLI and Nvidia chipsets

In fact, C19 chipset is okay to run a Intel P4EE 955,
Dell's Nf4 IE mobo for example, just need a new bios ;)

Interesting. I wonder why Asus then emphazises that presler will NOT work in the P5N32-SLI. I guess that's like saying SLI won't run in 975x, just a symptom of the Nvidia-vs-Intel showdown......
At any rate, my P5N32-SLI won't even post after a (successfull mind you) BIOS update, and with the hassle the retailer and Asus is giving me, I am SO done with Asus, Nvidia and Nforce motherboards, along with German retailers.

975X will do the job imo

Will 955 XE run with asus P5N32 or Abit NI8-SLI GR mainboard?

Even if it did, you would NOT want any of those motherboards. I have had both, and they suck. Asus says the cpu is NOT supported, but I'm sure if VictorWang says it will work, well then it ill work.
Only problem is the P5N32 motherboard will most likely die trying to update the BIOS, this has happened to a lot of people, including me. And mind you I have updated hundred of BIOS's over the past 15 years of building my own systems.
You really should go with a 975 chipset motherboard. Apart from that, SLI really isn't "all that". There are a lot of annoying issues still to be sorted IMHO.

I have had SLi since day one and i know what i´m doing concerning SLI. (you just need some good tools like "nhancer" and some good profiles, then 99.9% of all games run perfectly with SLI with great speed boosts) No single card can match the power of SLI.
And i don´t think nvidia will support 975 chipset. Of course the new asus workstation 975 mobo with 64bit pci-x would be perfect for me, because i have scsi raid (LSI 320-2X controller + 15k.3 hdds @ raid 0) but as long as nvidia doesn´t offially support 975 with SLI it is no option for me. Of course this can change with R580 crossfire :D:D:D
btw, did you try to update the bios with presler installed? Maybe it can run with presler, but not update correctly?

I updated the BIOS with the 670 installed. The motherboard was fishy to begin with though. Asus update wouldn't install because it "coudn't find an Asus motherboard...:" Aflash didn't wan't to update the bios because it couldn't find the "BIOS hook".
AFUDOS worked just fine, however upon reboot I just had a black screen. Clearing CMOS doesn't help, the board just won't post.
I've sold my 2x 7800GTX's, I'm done with Intel+SLI. I'll get the 955XE chip, Abit 975 motherboard and some ATI videocards. Hopefully the R580's will be here soon

No I didn't, and I never have. I've been flashing hundreds of BIOS's on motherboards and videocards for 15+ years and actually never had one die on me before. It's a problem with the some of the P5N32 motherboards, a lot of other guys have experienced the same thing on the Asus "vip" forum. However Asus support is really, really poor.

Asus latest beta bios has support for Pentium D 955XE?

Anyone tried it?

both D950, 955XE run OK on AsusP5N32 and Gigabyte QUAD SLi
the thing is that the both really sucked at o/cing...
and i mean big time...
especially compared to the new 975x asus p5wdg2-ws board
i got an SnM stable oc of 1.2ghz more ( 5.0 vs 3.8)!!!
Believe it or not
i wouldn't bother with a nVidia Intel Sli mobo again for any reason

I was not able to get my 955xe to fire up on Nvidia chipset with newest bios.
I dislike Nvidia chipsets, they do not put 1% of the effort they put into AMD based chipsets. In fact, I have requested many changes that would make customers happy. but that would alter the products target market and Nvidia wont do it. That market target being the "keep Intel :banana::banana::banana:ed up as possible" market.
Something as simple as making it possible to run a 800FSB processor at 1066FSB, or a 533FSB processor at 800FSB. A BSEL mod added to the reference design.
Bandwidth is derived from bus speed, and at 800Mhz the bus speed is fairly low and with headroom of +30FSB on average Nvidia will not be scoring any bandwidth or ORB records any time soon.
Games like BF2 and Fear that love bandwidth play worse on this chipset.

I was hoping to try out the Geforce 7900 GTX SLI with the Pentium D 955XE. The only way to run Geforce 7900 GTX SLI is to get a good Nforce 4 SLI board for the Pentium D 955XE.
If from what you guys are saying regarding the overclocking. I think it may be better to just stick with X1900XT crossfire.
