Peltiers are usualy 40x40mm.

The thing I ordered was
http://www.bgmicro.com/prodinfo.asp?sid=052832175925925968163143187&prodid=ACS1432&page=1&cri=peltier&stype=3

I figured it would just be a peltier with a 40mm heatsink on it, and I thought I could stick a fan on there.

No, the thing is nearly 150x150mm. This is EXCLELENT, for $20 I get 2 huge heatsinks.

Now what the hell do i do with it? Red and black wires come out, and I'm assuming I'd just connect it to the red and black* connetors of a 4-pin molex.

*Actually, yellow in this case, becuase black is ground in the 4pin molex.

I just don't want to mess with anything and have it overheat.

The Wires (http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/153/wires3oh.jpg) (how the hell does this go into the molex? I'm pretty sure I"ll be doing some soldering)

I'm not using this as a CPU cooler though, just as an air chiller (for experimentation). Any precautions, etc I should take before connecting it?

Although putting a pelt onto a PSU is usually a bad idea, 50watt should be safe enough.

Those wires look pretty thin though...

Just take an old fan or something else with a female molex on it.
Cut it off and solder the yellow wire on the molex to red on the TEC, and black to black (either black on the molex)
I recomend that you remove the spare red and black wires from the molex so they cant short anything out.
Also nsulate carefully on your solder joints, heatshrink tubing is best as it wont fall off.

Have fun with your TEC.

To avoid overheatsing you need a fan on the hot side of the pelt ... but I think you allready know that :P

Thats not bad for $20.

Black to black and Red to Yellow?
Gotcha. I was thinking Red to Red and Black to Yellow (or Black).

On the molex.

Black = Ground 0v
Red = +5v
Yellow = +12v

You want 12v, so you want black and yellow.

yup, I got one of those too.. the peltier element is actually small, its just got the huge heatsinks because it was originally built for portable 12v coolers that could be plugged into lighter plugins in cars ;)

To connect to molex you will have to cut the ends off and solder/crimp new tips on or use whatever kind of connector you want really.
