Take a look at the screenshot..

The notebook is Enpower D47K, AMD Athlon 3400+. It's running at full CPU load and the speed still shows up as 800mhz.

My customer is concerned about this and wants it to run at its rated speed of what... 2.2ghz? Does anybody have the fix to this? is there any way to override the setting so it can run at its full rated speed. Btw, we're talking based on AC power, not the battery. Using lower clockspeed to save battery power is "ok", he understands that. But he wants it at full speed when using off AC power.

What happens when you click on "Detect Max Speed"

Go to power optoins in the control panel and change the setting from whatever it is to home office/desk. That might solve your problem.

yea i've done that too.. it was set to mobile/battery or something like it, so I changed it to office/desktop mode. Nothing has changed.. same 800mhz.

i also checked the BIOS setting and it was horrible, almost no setting to change anything related with power saving or any kind. no, there was no cool n quiet setting either.

this isn't the first laptop I ran into this problem, the other one had similar problem, cpu speed running too low. :|

maybe I need to contact the manufacturer and ask i don't know..

try uninstalling AMD drivers

also something doesnt look like, because at 1ghz with cool n quiet my CPU runs at 1.1 volt, and at 800Mhz it is stable with 1 volt

Alternately, try d/ling something like clockgen and shovelling the multi up?

Found the problem. The K8 driver(PowerNow) was not installed. Installed it and now shows up at 2.2ghz in Desktop power mode. Thanks guys.
