I'm looking for parts for my single stage, however I"d prefer to purchase within canada to avoid duties and expensive shipping, and was wondering where fellow canuks purchased their parts from, worse comes to worse I order from the US, but i"d prefer to do this nationally, since I've had zero luck locally. If anyone in canada sells parts specifically for this application (like a chilly1 of the north) that'd be great.

there's a chain of stores aroud here (atlantic canada) that are called "midbec." i dont know if they exist in saskatchewan but thats where i get all my necessary stuff (shraeder valves, hoses, manifolds, cap tubing). and they're prices are pretty good too.

most of the things can be bought at local hardware stores though. things like copper tubing, condensors (check princess auto, i was shocked that the one near me had plenty of condensors in the surplus department), brazing rods can be had at any welding/ fabrication place.

compressors are a different matter. you could buy an ac unit but the prices are hella expensive. maybe go compressor hunting one weekend for old fridges/ dehumidifiers and the like. stop by a junkyard and look around a bit. most of the time they have some old fridges around.

i just found out recently that there is a refrigeration junk yard about 1/2 an hour from my house. big bonus if you can find one of those cause they have plenty of stuff to keep you happier than a kid in a candy store.

yea, I'm in a good spot for finding comressors, there is a scrap metla yard 5 blocks from the computer store I work @, and poeple dump used refrigerators there all the time, there's about 3 new ones sitting in front every time i go to work, heh. Right now I'm working on getting 1.5" stock copper for my Evap, trying to find round bar stock without much luck, Condensers are hard to cmoe across, small ones anyway, i"ve found a few that are HUGE, but I don't feel like cutting them apart and re-brazing all of the connections together unles i absolutely have to.

Saskatchewan eh? hehe, well if your from saskatoon like i am:D then go to refrigerative supply just off circle and idalwyld. were is this spot of yours where all those appliances get dumped? i'd like to hit that up myself. as for small condensors, i got those from Drew over at EOCF, he's in the states but you cant beat his price for his condensors and they're perfect prommie size. anyway, check refrigerative supply, they've got everything you'll need. just dont buy conpressors there cuz they'll cost an arm and a leg:toast:

Hey Sneil, awesome to see someone else who's into this stuff locally, i work @ CBiT (computer boulevard) on Quebec Ave. and i"ll have to look int that refrigeration place, i"ve hit up wolsely (good place for fittings, cap tue and copper tubing) and national refrigeation (I beleive thats what it's called) and they gave me two "cream coolers" that were manufactured for MacDonalds, they were peltier cooled, made some pretty decent peltier power supplies out of the parts, using that for my GPU cooling :D

***Edit*** forgot to mention, the place with the fridges is just off of circle drive drive north on Quebec Avenue, it's hard to miss, it's a giant pile of crushed cars and home appliances.

***Edit 2*** Could you provide a URL for this EOCF place? I'm having a hell of a time finding a suitable condenser, everyhting is so big, and I need it to fit under my Coller Master Stacker :|
