So after my first build, I've decided to correct my mistakes and try something new. I'm going to try to fit a single stage r290 1hp DD cooler into a SFF case. Has anyone done this before? Really want to make a nice clean package. On another note, anyone know of a better website to order flexible SS than BES out of the UK? I know a few members have websites that sell stuff, but I checked before and the prices were a bit steep. Have about 2 weeks to get this thing working, and trying to avoid using a solid copper line =)

you do realize how big a 1 HP compressor is...

wow...sounds like an interesting project...SFF-wise, i'm a bit intrigued as to how you're going to fit it in there.

what about all the heat the compressor gives off??????

lol woops, it isn't a 1hp compressor, i misread the label =) its a little LG compressor, I believe it spent a few years inside a mini fridge, about 1/3 hp. with my limited knowledge of compressors, I'm not too worried about heat production, there should be enough condenser to keep the gas chill and permit some cooling liquid to return to the compressor, the load will be an overclocked XP 2400+ T-bred. Anyone have ideas for flexline? don't really want to have to order from across the pond.

no offense, but try again....he's not talking about that...

are you talking about the compressor itself, being confined in such a small area, that perhaps temperatures would reach a point where it would fail? if so, can it be worse than where it was living before? refridgerator's don't exactly have prime airflow.

I've thought about using the SFF and micro cases for the phase change case, and it seems like a good idea. As long as you didn't want to put the pc in there, just the phase kit like a prommie then it would work fine, and leave room for a larger compressor if needed. 120mm fan in and out would be enough for compressor cooling, and with R290 you're not getting high discharge temps anyways.
The flexlines from BES work ok, but 600mm is the longeest they sell, and you have to put adapters onto the ends.
FlexiJ sells custom lengths in you call them, and I've heard the prices are reasonable, but call 'em and they'll quote you.

Can you link FlexiJ's website or phone number? Google just pulled up a bunch of random garbage about webcams and salt and pepper shakers. For the BES lines, 2 feet did seem a bit short, but I plan on having the SFF sit right on top or beside the case. Thanks for the help.

I've heard they're not too bad, and do custom sizes and all that, but I've never dealt with 'em myself.
