7800gt or gtz vs x1800xl

and nvidia has a good spot in my book due to my ati x800xl running hot, as in 100c under load, ati says thats normal operating temp

so witch would be my best bet

I think the 7800 GT and X1800XL with the price to performance battle. The GTX is faster but for the $150ish the improvement just isn't there. An overlocked GT can meat or beat GTX scores rather easily.

At the moment I would vote for the 7800 GT mainly because it is more mature, ATI still has some issue with its new 256mb cards, also the GT's are far cheaper than the XL's thus adding to the price/performance appeal

Id go for the X1800XL, with the new Cats, there on par with the GT in nearly all games, and faster in most, and overclock like a beast.

I'd go for a 7800GT, recent price cuts have made this card very good value for money and with performance close to the GTX (and probably reachable through overclocking).
