Hi,
I recently purchased a Mach 1, made by Chip-con.
I have a few question's :-
What Gas can the unit be recharged with, it's charged with R134a at the moment. (Without modding the cap tube ;))
Are there any different LCD that can be used with the Mach 1, like the Mach 2's LCD For example?
I'm getting condensation forming on the actual housing of the evap, is there a Heater in the block, can it's output be adjusted?
Thanks

The only way is to change the controller entirely, and if you plan to do that, contact Ssilencer or Golder Eagle about their G-Froster as it's a good unit. You'll need to fit a new temp probe but that's not a big deal.
You need to check the power supply to the heater, and if it's got none, rewire the heater to a 12v source in there if the supply is dead, otherwise if you've got power to it then the heater is dead in the evap housing and that's a bigger job.
I regased the Mach1 I have to 402a/290 and it holds a 150w or so load to -38 real temp, -45 or so on the display. You'll need to do a resistor mod if you do a regas if you want the original controller to work at all tho, as the alarm goes off at -50, really annoying.
All that can be done by someone if you want the unit redone though, and depending on where you live there's a few ppl out there that can do it for you :)

OK, i'll enquire about a G-Foster.
Ohh i forgot to ask, i'm getting condensation/ice forming on the Insulation on the line running to the evap.
Can i just buy Armaflex tape and wrap it around the affected areas, the tape is about 9mm thick, though i can get thicker.
Thanks again

Must have missed your post.
yeah, there's no problem with using Armaflex tape to fix up the line, though it's normally about 3mm or so thick, but perhaps you've got thicker. Even a single wrap, in addition to the old insulation or what's left of it, is enough to seal it up.
Otherwise you can insulate it with whatever you like, as long as you still have access to the screws at the head, which very thick insulation might make difficult.

But the nice sleeving will be gone ;)
I consider getting some tape for mine too. My suction line is sweating heavily.
Otherwise mine is r404a charged and way overcharged. Nice unit, though.
We'll see how it fares when i get my opteron and adjust the charge a wee bit :)
