I have never done any mods to any computer hardware so needless to say im not real comfortable doing it but I want as much performance as I can get for my money. Because I have no clue what a "20k variable" is. I figured The only mod I could even do from that 7800gt write up is this one; would this be worth doing by it self or should I just leave the card alone:

" Penciling and reducing the resistance of the resistor to 600ohms will increase the VMem voltage by 0.06v."

If I have this correct all I would need to do is pencil accross that area marked and that is it?

You would need to pencil in some, check the resistance, pencil in some more, check the resistance....and so on.

Be aware that sometimes the pencil action works for short periods of time.

If you are serious about benching, I would recommend to speak to one of the various people who do Vmods here to handle it for you. A very small investment considering the returns.
