That's a hard question to answer not knowing what your going to do with the chiller.
If you cooling a cpu only, I would go with direct die.:)

I second that, if it's a single evap cooling system you're after, then direct die is better.
I'm in process of modding some Mach2's and I've been test running them with pure propane (R290) and with a full charge they're pulling to about -55 on one and -58 on the other (fluke temps) which is as cold as -78 on the display.
I'll have to load test and see what that ends up at, but really there's nothing wrong with a propane single stage. Doesn't have the capacity of 404 or 507, but it doesn't cost nearly as much either.

well I was going to start out just cooling the cpu and eventualy move to my gpu once I gain more knowledge and experience with this.
and what is direct die? I thought it was taking off that cover plate on the cpu exposing the core.

no DD is when is stead of cooling water to cool the cpu you cool the cpu directly with the expanding and evaporating gas

To add, Direct Die is when the evaporator (the place the liquid refrigerant boils) is on the cpu itself and indeed not cooling for example water.

ahhhhhh then yea i would be doing direct die with my ss, and the chiller would be some mixture of maybe 50 50 antifreeze and water? or whatever the best mixture is.
