Hey guys sorry if this is the wrong place to post this but its been so long since i was last here!

Well basically im getting a whole new rig on wednesday but i really dont know what to get.

One of the biggest things is the memory. I was going to get 2gb ballistix kit but i have been hearign alot of bad reports about them lately not overclocking well and also jsut failing.Any ideas on what ram to get?

Then there is mobo. I had pretty much settled on a Asus A8N-SLi Premium nForce4 SLi but then i seen the DFI NF4 SLI-DR Expert and am thinking it mite be the better choice?

Im getting an X2 4400 and hope to overclock it well.

Also dont know which gcard tbh, 256mb7800GTX or X1800XT?

Any help is greatly appreciated guys!

Thanx

From what I hear, Opterons 939(dual cores) clock a bit higher then X2's if your in luck. I went with an Opt 170 2ghz 2mb L2 over an X2 4400 because of the price diffrence and the small oc could do just as fine as paying 100-200$ extra.

Im personally an Nvidia man, I've had all sour experiences with my 9800/9800pro/9600pro/9800 256mb. So I won't be heading down any of those paths for a long time. Those two cards i believe are neck to neck, but why not a 7800 GTX 512mb? They're just that much ahead of the competition in terms of performance.

For boards A8n series are a bit for the panies like me :D who don't tweak that much or OC that much but want some overhead, you cant go wrong w/that DFI board.

On the memory subject, I've been using OCZ plat for a while, the only problem I have is 512mb x 4 is very unstable when oc'ing, although 512mb x 2 oc'd perfectly, go figure. Maybe titanium series could do you better.

I would lean towards the expert and 170 opty myself. Do you have any intentions to run sli or crossfire in the future? As for ram i had given thought to trying out a set of the ocz plat eb 2x 1gb kits. If your not planning to OC it that much then a cheaper set of G.Skill ZX series since they run tighter timings and would suit you fine.

I had heard about the opterons too but over here in the uk theya re very hard to get a hold of atm. Near impossible tbh. I would prob intend to run a dual graphics setup later when i need it.

As for getting the 512mb7700gtx Its to expensive!! Here in the Uk theya re looking £540 for it while u can get the X1800XT for £390. Thats a big price difference in my opinion.

Ive noticed that there is alot of OCZ memory but we dont have the same ones the USA do. I am looing 2x 1GB sticks. TO run in dual channel that will clock quite high but also have tight timings.
