I just got my Mach II and the evap temp read -40 with the fans on turbo.

Anyway to get it colder? I don't want to regass it if I can help it. I would like to get it down to -45 to -50C. The boot temp is set to -40, any way to get it lower?

Are there any other mods for this unit software or hardware??

I dont know much about phase change, but as far as I know, you can get a bigger/better compressor (if noise isnt a concern) regass it with R404, a Chilly evap, and a couple other stuff.

Use the search function dude, there's heaps of mods for it, just depends if you're gonna do it yourself or pay someone to mod if for you. Depending on where you live, someone on here could probably help you out.

if you dont want to do anything crazy, blowing cool air into it might help

Forget swapping compressor. NF9FX in that unit is a jewel. Simple recharging with r404a will rejuvinate it to mach II gt level, making some heavy modification can net to as good as most custom units will be :)

It already has some 404a in it. Would that really help?

I did make sure it was really clean when I got it. The guy that sold it to me kept it perfect.

I have a condenser from chilly1 that I didn't got around to using. I would put it in here but I failed miserably at making my own phase. Never could get the evap head to work and couldn't get the charging process down pat.

I did try the search but they all pulled up stuff about regassing to 507 or something exotic. Since my attemps at phase went so bad I didn't want to do anything to mess up this mach II. I was thinking more along the lines of fan mods, software mods and hardware hacks. Maybe down the road I will have to look into regassing or changing the head. My skills in that department suck right now. :caution:

Charging with 507 will make very little or no difference.

404a is 507 with 134a

Without degassing and modding it, there's not a lot you can do.

You can add a fan in front of the condensor, and run them all at highest speed, which can give a tiny performance improvement due to increased condensing efficiency, but it's very small if anything.

Regassing to 507, and tweaking the captube to the required heatload along with charging to that heatload will give better results. Even charging to 507 will give a little if you tune it to the cpu it's running on under load.

I'm doing 3 chilly head/402a mods at the minute, all with their own quirks, but the first one's finished and running around -42 load measured with the fluke, and -57 on the display. This one's the low fan power one (he wants better temps but still reasonable noise levels) so it's been tuned around that as best I could. Still about 1700rpm is as low as is safe to run with it. Blended with R290 to bring the pressure and discharge temps down. It would be a fair bit colder if he was hard of hearing ;)

These are all getting desuperheat mods, chilly heads (new rev.) and are being tuned for about 180w.

There's plenty of mods available for a Mach2, or a Vapochill for that matter, but without physically rebuilding the unit, the only thing you can do is increase fan power and hope for the best.

Charge with r402a, get chilly1 evap, and overvolt fans. None of those are difficult at all.
