View Full Version : Do the fans in OCZ powerstreams ever speed up?

The air coming out of my 420 watt powerstream is hot as hell and I haven't even added my SLI setup. The stupid fan is spinning slower than my grandmother walking down stairs :stick: Are they thermally controlled or do I have to crack it open and put some deltas in there?

I don't have a 420w Powerstream sitting around, but I know the fans in PSU's are not as easy to replace as a normal case fan. Beyond that, it can be Xtremely dangerous for you to pop open a PSU if you don't know exactly what you are doing. Even after they've been unplugged for a while, they can easily still have the capacitance to badly shock or kill you.

Personally I would say don't pop open your PSU unless you are intimately familiar with the inner workings of said PSU.

anyone?

Yes, the fans will adjust their speed based on their PSU load. If you adjust the +12 volt pot, you can easily hear the fan speeds change.
