View Full Version : FX-57 + Expert under dry ice. SPI 32MB @ 3795Mhz

Hi guys, ^^
This is my fx-57 SPI 32MB run under dry ice.
IHS is intact ATM, and it's a 0516 wpmw.
Think there should be more room to reduce the SPI record since OS, and ram settings are not fully tweaked. I ran out of dice(T.T).
P.S Super Special thanks to Mikeguava. ^^

Up to what frequency is it bencheable with SuperPi 1M?
210ºC... cool... that is a good container for sure, 210-255=-45, it is at -45ºC reab by BIOS!!
Everytime I've tried DICE, my processors kept at -35 more or less, this is 220ºC shown by Smart Guardian.
Good results!! :toast:

Wow!!
Nice run :)
What dryice container? Do you have pictures?
Thanks
It's a solid copper mousepot. Will try to take some pictures later. ^^

That's the temp i got with my chilly1 and either my 144&146, even 206-208º... Wasn't a fx57@3,8ghz tho...:D
well, that is a really good temp for sure.
208º mean almost -50º read by BIOS.
Even better than DICE for me. What board?
nice results man, go pick up summore DICE and get to tweaking

It's local stuff.. :D
Nothing special. Just plain compound, and you can check it out at www.cjhi.com.
Product is called T-Zero.

SPI 32MB at 3810Mhz with lowered VCORE 1.61V.
IHS is not tampered in any way.
Gotta move forward and foward. ^^
I'll post some other pics tonight.

Very nice bro. How about 1M?
Also how is the eXpert holding up for you.
See guys living proof that the mb is not that dangerous. A few isolated cases here and there. But of course we should all exercise caution.

Nice chip dude :)
Try'n use some LN2 - but use small amount and increase slowly in order to find limit / coldbug (if you can get LN2 ofcause)
What do youre FX57, do @ SP 1Mb.. :)
Its 1M - 1.000.000, not 1MB = 1.048.576 - And its somewhere around 21.675-21.950 I bet :)

Just when I said ima quit overclocking and start running all my hardware at stock settings because I keep frying shi, this happens and makes me wanna buy a dam Xpert mobo and see if my X2 will work better on it...
When your done benching this beast have you settled on a spot for your 24/7 usage, and what is that gonna be like?

A little update with a few seconds faster 32mb spi value.
Think the expert board is really great. Tweaking options are much nicer than my old ultra-D, which I think is helping me get faster 32mb spi values along with endless tweaking. :)
I'm so into 32mb spi runs right now, and still havn't really gave a run for spi 1mb. :D
BTW, my 24/7 setting is 'everything under default'. lol

Is this AS Ceramique?
http://myhome.hanafos.com/~onechu/fx_57_dice/as_cer.jpg
I only had one chance to compare T-zero, and AS Ceramique under dice, and so far T-zero has given me about 1-2C less than the AS Ceramique.
Not 100% sure about their thermal performance, but I think the local stuff is actually better than I thought. I'll try to compare both of them again.
Yes it is ceramique, in fact, I have the same size big tube :)
Awesome!!!:slobber: :slobber:
Shave off another 5 seconds and take the WR 32M.
Did you try trfc 13, idle cycle limit 0 and trrd 1 or 0?
It might help a little, also tref 100MHz 1,95us might be a little faster.
Good luck

man you are only at 1.61v (closer to true voltage than old DFI NF4 mobos).......i reckon we will see some 2.9GHz SPI action.......easy W.R. here for sure :D :woot:

Hope I can shave off more seconds from your advice :D , but think it will be very hard to set idle cycle limit 0, trrd 1 or 0, and tref 100MHz 1,95us at those clocks. T.T
Anyways I'll try, thanks. :)
Another funny thing is I was able to set trfc upto 12, but 14 gave me the best pi value. Think the CPU kind of hit a wall showing these wierd symptoms. lol

Already kind of tried, and think 3.9 will be hard to achieve even with this mousepot dice cooling. So I was looking to get some LN2, but the local shops wouldn't rent me a dewer, and the least expensive dewer I could find costs like a thousand dollars. lol.
Another way would be to pop the IHS off, but I just can't do it this time(can't risk it lol), since all the IHS poped FX-57s I've used before eventually died. :D

I'm amazed at how you can run over 3.8ghz with only 1.62v or so... that is amazing.... your 0516 is a beast... does the chip respond to any more voltage than that? :)

Mike had this CPU on his shelves for 2 weeks unopened, and it came into my hands at the end. lol Very happy with my 0516 ^^
Bellow 3810Mhz, I was able to higher the voltage upto 1.68, but at 3810Mhz or above, I couldn't higher the vcore. Think the CPU is too hot.
I'm not sure if I can handle LN2 nicely, but atleast I need to rent a dewer. T.T Spending 1000 USD on a 4 Liter Dewer just sounds too ridiculous. :D

Agreed but as stated above I love ur FX, wouldnt it be nice to see a 4ghz sooner or later :)
I have yet to see anything AMD 4ghz yet, and I think that would be total ownage

like FX 80?

Was that the cpu mike had in the for sale section??? Damn I should have jumped on it... I have trouble benching above 3.74ghz with DI on my old FX which is still pretty good but those exceptional cpu's like the one you have are tough to come by!!

I heard Mike sold a few at the sale section, and I bought one of them. ^^ Since it's gonna take some time for me to lookup for a dewer, and that I'm currently on a 2 inch copper mousepot, I want your 3 inch one so much. I too should have jumped on the 3 inch one when there was one left :D lol

He's running the correct timings for the Expert board. The only change he needs to make is on the TRFC -> 12 if it's BH or 13 if it's CH ;)

Wierd thing is that I'm getting slower PI value at TRFC 12 than TRFC 14. TRFC 14 is even giving me faster pi value than TRFC 13. lol. I do get faster PI value with TRFC 12 under lowered CPU clocks. Guess my 0516 hit a wall or something. ^^;

You're probably on the verge of instability @ trfc12. I've noticed when I push my cpu and memory close to their max, the faster settings become so unstable, that the Spi results come out slower. Sometimes slower is faster :p:

but I get your theory now up 2 steps on number 55-57 equals 200 mhz on badge number :toast:

Better check that theory again....;) The reason there wasn't a FX59 is due to the fact that starting with the FX60, the FX series of processors will use a numbering scheme similar to the Opterons. Therefore, they'll be increasing by increments 5. So the next FX will be the FX65, then the FX70, etc.....
