balded IHS? What's that mean?
sin0822
12-06-2005, 04:48 PM
the ihs isnt removable on the chip, so im guessing that guy removed it by presiley grinding it away and sanding down the epoxy al the way until it hit hte core.
[XC] moddolicous
12-06-2005, 04:56 PM
I think someone removed the old IHS off of a p4. Maybe team japan has figured a way to do it with the new skt 775 cpus. Congrats team japan. That is truly insane. Now, give it 2.1 and get that 100% OC.

Grinding sounds like my idea to remove the IHS by milling machine or CNc/lathe.

No kidding, I was just saying in another thread, a 100% OC on something like the 630 is nice enough...but to think we're gonna (hopefully) be seeing a 100% OC coming out of the 670.....it's just fricken nuts.
Props to you guys, and good luck going for that magic number. :toast:

Hopefully...frick that'd be insane.
Funny, someone's going for 3DMark WR's it's almost automatically an AMD setup...but for those of us with the undying urge to get our chips running at ridiculously high frequencies...just to freak people out...Intel's still the way to go...I must say, I'd rather have a 5 or 6GHz Pentium under the hood then a 3GHz A64. A 5GHz or 6GHz P4 is an accomplishment enough in itself...and the more learned OC'ers understand that...but for people that don't quite know the full background behind these chips...they're alot more amazed by a CPU running at 5 or 6GHz then one at 3. That fact, combined with the amazingly high frequencies attainable by DDR2 recently have still got me contemplating an Intel rig the next time around...we'll see.

yes , but still is necessary it to have the materiel or finances to arrive there, is to it the problem of the overclocking the top of therange (Fx57 / 780 / 670 , GTX 512mo , x1800xt crosffire .... ) :(
That is the main problem...you can do your best to find a financial niche to settle into when you're OC'ing...doing what you can with what you can afford...but it's always a little discouraging not being able to run with the big boys. :(
then you have to ask why misterroadster isn't a legend.
There'S nothing wring with duck being a legend.
But that's a bit OT now.
I wanna see the pot, or is it secret?
Thank you all!!!!
Near future....I make a new record.

It is with the good judgement of the adminis and modos of this site ;)
Some would have it to deserve much more that others
Finally that doesn't change large thing moreover, it is not for that you will have more materiel has to test by the manufacturers or do the One of the newspapers of your country :D lol

yes I know that us in France, always have the last ones has to receive the innovations (will choose them socket 939 are hardly available) lol :(
In the same way for cooling, for the Gas come R14 to do one 3rd stage, it is out of price, and for Dry ice or from LN2, That costs enormously much
As for the manufacturers in France, there is very little of it who lend materiel to just make an article on a site, then for L overclocking, it is practically impossible to have the top-of-the-range one to hope to play with the others :slapass: :slapass:

Isn't france a member of European Uninon? Then you can order stuff inside EU without paying taxes and such, and there's plenty of other countries with good HW. German for example got some good HW and so on.

you can ship from germany to france without problems. shipping isnt too expensive and hardware is cheaper in germany.
look at alternate.de. there you can normally find most of the new parts!

duck-san, congratulations on another great OC record.
Also congratulations on becoming an Xtreme Legend.
I dream that one day I can also use a V-TEC ARC Bed with my Dry Ice container.
Thank you and Team Japan for being an inspiration to us all with your extreme cooling.
I hope I can meet you, "Kyosen, Enzo, Fredyama", and other Team Japan

Congratulations by that end OC!!! But to say that intel (netburst) if that conseguiria with 90nm and unfortunately to pass the barrier of 4GHz the consumption and the so high temperatures of the glided thing but improving the ventilation (case of the introdución of the BTX) be pleasant seeing as their micros raise, now with 65nm I clear to me the hat by the great capacity and to aver that puts to 10GHz xDD By curiosity passes the PCMARK04

No,
IN JAPAN....I cannot be seeing.
It cannot be come to hand by the 65nm chip which exceeds this record.
But...perhaps...In the near future, I will receive it.
wow and that was with a 90nm chip OMG wonder how fast you get with a 65nm one 8.4 ghz methinks
Hi!-Acid-
Now...IN JAPAN...
The record of 631 (65nm) is no less than 800MHz better than 670 (90nm).
If M/B is very uncanny....7650+800=8450MHz??
I am also waiting for 65nm (671?) to pleasure.
Great OC Duck. i think its time to figure out a way to get the IHS off of the P4. Who says a little solder is gonna stop them.
