PATA Problem

I am currently running my computer with two SATA HDs (no RAID), and whenever I connect a PATA drive not only does Windows not even boot (XP Pro x32), my BIOS doesn't even recognize it. Using an Asus A8N-E with Bios revision 1008.


Suggestions?

I've tried master / slave / cable select.
