hi,

since i gonna make some phase change i am wondering what the average coldbug is, so that i can tweak my unit to keep that temperature

thx in advance

I don't think you can consider an average here, it's the same as for the OC, it's all about the luck of the draw.

LOL... with "luck" in massive inverted commas :p:

tends to be.
X2 coldbug around -5C
normal A64 (opty/venice) -30C
decent FX -70C

but there have been optys cold bugged @ -5 and X2s that can go much lower.

it is luck, but thats the rought rule of thumb.

but don't forget some optis might clock well, but they don't run at their best temps.
was speaking to some german guys yesterday seeing lots of 3GHZ @1.5-1.65V prime stable on air...some even with 3.1/3.15GHZ...even compressorcooled system won't reach a lot more primestable. PM'ed one doing 3.5GHZ suicide and 3.25GHZ Pi1m on his watercooling (yeah I saw a picture ^^)........
It can't be helped - my feeling says watercoolers running opterons more likely in their best temp regions regarding °C/mhz than compressor systems do with most of the opti's.
I would really like to see my opti on water to see if I'm right. It would do 3GHZ prime stable for sure without problems and I only manged to finally get 3.15GHZ OCCT stable :(

Some people get a "fresh bug", positive temp like +5°c, I saw +17°c one time :(

Hi, i tried a 144 and a 146 last friday night under dry ice, 144 wouldnt post under -46º, needed -35º to boot @2600mhz, did 3,1-3,2 unstable @-15º.

The 146 ( cabye 0540FPBW ) has cold bug too, but not that bad, it can boot @3ghz at -40º, for 3,4ghz needs -25º, and for 3,55 needs -15º, @3,55 i could only do suicide shots, @3,5ghz i can do superpi 8m if i can keep the temps...

I don't think AMD will RMA this because you can't use it below ambient temp :D

I have the excat same stepping as you mate. Mine does not have the cold bug on Single stage modded Vapo LS that reaches temps of -60 fluked. The bios CPU temps are around -35 ish. OK at that. But like everyone else says it is the look of the draw.

Get it cold and see what you got. :D
