I am now ocing my X2 4200+ and I wanted to ask if when running prime95, a failure of one of the two cores is a sign of unstability or is it normal?
Thanks.
ummm, i would say that if one of the cores failed, then that would definately be a sign of instability

hmm i see... well now i'm trying to run it on 2500 MHZ 277*9 on a voltage of 1.4... should i try and give it more voltage or should i give more voltage to the memory (or both)?

try vcore and vmem alone and it's no go do them both. still no go means a64tweaking..

well i mean maybe certain tweaks and timings are bothering the memory to go any further. Lol what timings are you running at anyway? ^^ tried dividers to clock them down?
Tried everytihng and still won't go.The first thing you gotta do is to ensure that your memory is stable at the frequency you want to run it at. One way is to use Memtest86 with your CPU set conservatively. Once you have your memory stable you can then start to pump up the CPU.

hmm the max i could run my ram without clocking my cpu was 285*8 (clocked the cpu by 80mhz only...) it was stable using memtest86+ on 2.5-3-3-7.
