If I stick a athlon fx57 into a Neo4 platinum, will it run it right out of the box or do I have to upgrade bios?

it will run right out of the box
use bios 3.1 official for best overclocks

Yes it will run out of the box..
All of the PCI-E boards are x2 and SOI right of the box.. You only have to worry if you have an AGP board

make sure you really use 3.1 bios, changing from 3.7 to 3.1 gave me about 200MHz more
only downside, you cannot choose to boot with 1T, you have to change it manually every time

3.1 bios? i have a MSI Neo4 Platinum mobo and the bios's are 1.1 - 1.9, the new bios of 1.A was recently released to adress the x2 cores only detecting 1 core. are you talking about the same motherboard here?
