Well, I found a source for the JIUGB 1700+ and I was wondering what kind of o/c I could expect to get from this chip.

I currently have my 1600+ @ 1856 on an Epox 8k5a2+ with a SLK800... 9700pro.

edit: also is this cpu swap advisable considering the results of my 1600+

J= Low-end Tbreds

A= High-end Tbres

Thus, Js generally sucks for overclocking.:(

Mine ran windows at 205x10.5 2152mhz but was quite unstable. I stressing it right now at 2100mhz with prime95 and for 3 hours now it hasnt crashed. Dissapointed but hey 2.1ghz for 60 bucks aint bad. Im just waiting for the 2100+ to be available in Canada then shes gone.

I think we have to get this in perspective and say that J's overclock well but A's overclock extremely well.

4-500Mhz+ overclock on a 1470MHz chip is not too shabby.

Imagine getting a Athlon classic Tbird 1.4 a couple of years ago and saying

" I bought this 1.4 Tbird for only $60 and it overclocks to 2Ghz "

We're all geting greedy :D

Hahah this is very true :P But then again macci was saying "I bought this 1ghz Tbird and it overclocks to 2ghz"

:P Note I left out "for $60" cus it obviously costed more back then.

I just got a JUIGB from newegg today.

so far it ran 3dmark stabley and some other stuff at 200x10 with my crappy pc2100 ram. The voltage on both vcore and dimms were high though :(

2.0volt vcore ( could possibly go lower, still testing), and 2.77vdimm.(crappy pc2100 crucial)

Lower your fsb and raise the multi if your ram cant handle it. And if you need 2v to reach 2Ghz then ill say that chip is not as good as it could have been :)

... so if these chips only hit 2Ghz on air it's not worth my upgrading from the 1600+ @1856?

Can you elaborate on this A vs J steppings. Are there some 1700+ "A's" that I should be shopping for or are you referring to the 2100+ cpu's?

I'm slightly confused as morphling1 just clocked 2524MHz with a JIUHB? Here's the thread (just below yours); http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=8149
