Not bad at all. Beats my 146 that maxed OCCT and Prime at 2920 Mhz. Temps on this are extremely low. This is all on air, using Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro with AS5.

nice job dnottis :) i'm having the same results right now. I'm currently using some crappy china thermal paste becuz my AS Ceramique hasn't arrived and I need to badly reseat my water block. You're pumping awfully alot of vcore :P

burn it in! See what voltages you can get with 3Ghz!

Is yours the same stepping?

I'm priming it at 1.50v, 2.90 Ghz right now, 1.488 failed at 2hr 34mins. Its funny how when my chips need 1 more bump in vcore they fail right around 2hr 30min - Prime must do something at this time that causes them to crash at exactly the same point.

I have a 146 that I can prime at 2940 1.6v but the load temps get to be about 50 deg C. This chip at 1.63v was only 46 - 47 load. The chip runs extremely cool. *had a venice just like this*.

Anyways, I wanted 3Ghz doesnt look like it will happen and I just wanted to find the max I could OCCT stable at, I havent primed that yet to see if it's truely stable. I can boot and run apps at well over 3 Ghz, too bad I cannot get it OCCT and Prime stable yet. I should post the 1M SuperPI screenshot at 3.1Ghz on Air and call it a day like I see everyone else doing ;)

Seriously though, this chip looks to be giving me a little bit better OC since I have to give it less volts than my Opty 146 and temps are like 7-8 deg lower.

Searching XS the 148 0542FPMW doesnt really look to be a good stepping for anyone, most weren't even breaking 2.9 Ghz.

Burn in gave me nothing with my 146 - I think that by the time I've primed them for hours on end trying to find true stability I've done as much for the chip as any burn in utility ever would. I run prime every night for like 2 weeks when I get a new chip, I beat the crap outta them to make sure it's 110% stable. I move up 1 HT Mhz at a time and prime it for 8-10 hours raising vcore when needed and documenting prime stability at each clock and HT speed....this way I can always jump to another setting and know how much vcore it CPU will need to be stable and the max for each one. Yup, it's anal but I cant have stuff randomly crashing.

My 146 is a better clocker I think

Quite nice results, Dean!

Yeah, and don't worry... There are still people around here that appreciate and look for more than just 1M or Ssshots. Keep it that way

I cannot get the 148 to prime over 2910 though, my 146 will prime up to 2940. Just got a Coolermaster Aquagate R120 in for review, so this may make things interesting. Not only comparing high end air to it but max clocks ;)

Wish me luck! LOL

Not bad for middle air cooling . I bet that with a decent watercooling u will easily get 3000Mhz even more ...

my 148 cabye0543 was stubborn until i put it under the vapo

did 2.9 @ 1.4v but struggled to hit prime stable @ 3ghz under high end water

i didn't have alot of time to experiment however
