Whats the whole concept of buring in? Is it that by running the CPU really stressed for a while your braking in the silicon and making for higher overclocks? Wouldn't that just deteriorate the silicon more?

I think that works as it works for cars.
I had some burn in experience myself.
Current rig :
I was running 289*9 with 1.55v for a couple of months. Then I restart my O/C from the beginning, and It's now stable @ 285*9 with 1.44v.
Just remember CPU have a lifetime way longer than your whole rig and applications, so you will probably sell and change your rig a long time before it die and so whenever you burn in it.
