After a few atemps, I finally get a FX-57 that supports real cooling - I take it to Ricky's rebuild cascade and find that the limit is -63ºC in CPU and around -92ºC in the evaporator..
Not perfect, but acepptable and can lead to interesting results ..
Here is the setup used for a quick test
http://img295.imageshack.us/img295/4130/insul6ws.jpg
And we still have a few others mobos to test
http://img444.imageshack.us/img444/249/dsc02532medium1xy.jpg
:D :D
In the first test, we just try learn the limit of acceptable cooling for the CPU ..with the 7800GTX 512MB with Stock Cooling at 630-1860 we manage to get this :
http://pedrorocha.planetaclix.pt/45223_3DmarksFX57Cascata.jpg
No special tweaks and mem at low speed (multi 16 mem 242mhz), but if we use one of our old tweaks we can run it a much higger HTT..:)
We should do another bench session in the next days, this time with serious cooling for the graphics cards ..after all we need to bring into use Ricky's SLI cascade ..
Here is a photo of Ricky riding CPU Casacde ver 2.0 :D :D

More results soon..

oh man cant wait to see SLI scores with a good CPU. Also it will be interesting to see the different mobos capabilites.

Welcome back Pedro and Ricky... looking forward to see the ORB get torn a new one, ala first 40k 2K1 :)
Really nice to see you going singel carded with a FX :toast:
Looks like FX57 and a singel GTX512 can take 50k. I guess you ran it with the multi acpi tweak? ;) (car high seems a little low though but that is maybe becuase of low htt/mem)

Great to see you guys benching again Pedro. 3872mhz is killer. :toast: May I ask what is the stepping of your chip?

Nice cpu!
Pedro, hmm... A good tube and DICE would be better? :\
Around that -60 / -65, and alot more stable idle/load, or am I wrong ? :\
Anyhow, good luck champs :)

that 3dmark was just a test, just a run, cpu can run 3dmark @ 3.92 my mems do 280 2-2-2-5, graphics need some voltmods and sli cascade is waiting to be tested :) -100/-100 idle
mr beier, you are wrong :) cold bug independend of evap temp, ocours on this cpu @ -67 core temps.
On windows, @ 1.85v with 100% cpu load we get -50 cpu die temps, so no problem, only have troubles with cold bug if the cpu go idle, were the temps quick pass -67 and crash :)
with dry ice we never will get -50 load temps so, cascade is better for this case :) need a better tune on cpev and better contact next time, -55 load temps is possible i think

No cold bug w/ mem controller? If not some 280x14 will be insane! :slobber: Any chance of running some Pi with those speeds? Real nice cpu you have. GL :toast:

Nice :)
Are you using the IHS?
What memory modules are those in the picture?
|RickY|
11-30-2005, 09:44 PM
yes, ihs in, no problems with mem controler for now, 260 2-2-2-5 is ok, we didn't test higher, that mems are my beauty, oem 2x512 vx chips the ones that can do close to 280 2-2-2-5 @ 3.7v :D
Its must be fun with "less than a minute window" from boot to -92C evap.... to beat the cold bug :)
Awesome cpu :toast:

Another bench session - cascade on the 2 GTX 512, but we have to stop it because of the condensation, really bad weather here - storms, rain and a lot of humitdity on the air (around 80%)...
Anyway we managed to get this 1 wit7800GTX 512 770-1950..
http://pedrorocha.planetaclix.pt/48188_3DmarksFX57CascataGrafica.jpg
Thank you to Raptor and Daniel from Aquapc for the help on the bench session..
We will bench agan when the sunshime cam in ;)

That cpu speed is killer man. DO you have the ihs still on your chip? What kind of evaps temps can your chip handle max? What evap temp does it take to pull 3872mhz?
You guys are #1 with FX and single card in 01' :woot:

well, hard nigh bench... i'v some good pics on my camera, i'll upload later, we got to mutch condensation on pci-e slot's and one of the cards arn't good overclocker, anyway we have all the stuff monted on cascades on my garage :D so later i'll go try some better results.
cpu can andle anything that not passes -67 die core temps, with cascade near -95 on evap 1.83v full loaded always cpu core temps was @ awsome -55 to -58ºc :o
sli cascade is to mutch good, on end of 3dmark 2005, 2003 etc full load off 2 gtx512 v-modeds, we have -90 on big evap of aoutside card and -85 on small slim evap (i'll make a better evap soon), this with only 3 compressors and comoun hx :)
i'll try to insulate better pci-e slots

IHS still on and doubt will be off because without it perfect contact with cascade CPU evaporator is almost possible..
I think 3.930mhz or more 2001 runs will be possible, but my good old Corsair BH-5's maxed at around 260 in the Expert.
3dmark 2005 and 2003 runs at more than 3.900 also may be possible, to bad the 2nd 7800GTX is not a great overclocke like the 1st one.
This single card run is just with core mod, vdd a vmem not work but we find to right way to do it already.. my goal is doing some runs with booth cards at 800-2000 at least ..cooling of the cards in SLI is not a problem at all - Ricky's SLI cascade effectiveness is really amazing;)

Pedro do you have any clue of the overclock on those cards stock cooled...i mean in coolbits (detect optimal frequency) just to compare with mine  ...
Wish you guys good luck in further benchmarking sessions :toast:

Now thats a neat setup :)
But how do you manage? - If I use the 4v jumper, the mosfet reaches an insane temperature, and I dont doubt u use that for bench ;)
Why havnt ya got a fan over the darn thing? And whats the slimmy red stuff? (dielectric crap? :))

I bet everything on that mobo is cold
there is sub zero temps on both PCI slots and the SKT Iam sure the mobo is absorbing all the heat those fets are producing.
would be interesting to know the temps under load just to see how low they are :D

Almost every CABNE 0530APMW seems to do around ~3880MHz. I have one here, no mather what I do I cant get it over 3900MHz (coldbug around -100C, my 0512UPMW coldbugs a bit over -130C). The 0530 looks to be the dream cpu for a 2-stage cascade though :) Or a -100C LN2-container :D
