View Full Version : IGPU mod needed?
My X850 XT (OK, OK, modded GTO2, 16 pipes @ 585/615...) does something a little odd when I push the core over 600 and run intense graphical apps like COD2 -- it just shuts down.
No artifacting, no visible problems, and no CTD. The screen freezes entirely, the audio loops, and within seconds the screen goes black and the monitor's no-signal light flashes. A hard reset brings everything right back up.
With all my previous cards I've seen some sort of artifacting before a failure like that, so I figure the overcurrent protection might be kicking in. Thing is, I haven't modded the card at all (other than the flash). Is it possible that the card's drawing that much power at stock voltage but high clocks? Basically, will an IGPU mod increase my clocks?

The OCP mod is only needed when you are running Vgpu at about 1.6v+. I've never heard of OCP kicking in on an unmodded card, but its possible that it might be. I would guess that its probably the GPU reaching its limit tho.
Doh. Well, temps are excellent under a Maze 4, maybe time to up the volts. Thanks!

Was wondering about this myself. On my connect3d X800GTO, after flashing to 16 pipes, anything over 530 on the core causes the image to freeze, but audio still plays normally for about 10 seconds, then it all goes black, and resetting fixes it.

My x800gto 16 pipe with r430 (says x800pro right on the core) Will do 465 artifact free fine then just locks up games or ati tool with artifact scan stops then the screen goes black music plays for about 10 sec then it just startsto skip then searching for signal a restart fixes it all i thought it was drivers at first cus i was using 5.13 betas then i went to the 5.12 final same thing then omegas same thing then the omegas with an overlay of an older DNA driver same thing...i am going to do a vmod here right off...
Also my core should be well over 500 yes? as it is an r430 or do they drop the volts WAY down on GTO cards?

I'd imagine the voltage is dropped quite a bit, as theyre only meant to run at 400/12 pipes.
