View Full Version : Opp upto 2nd With AMD
Very nice work mate :) ....keep the old AMD going eh
Epox Nforce2/9700Pro (http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=5640962)
...wish this was my score
OMG a EPOS in 2nd! LoL

Yeah... and don't forget it's a board for the 'novice overclocker'. :D

..just a thought, JC has got a 9700 @ 495/393....while Opps is only @ 490/360! ....i mean, mine does 360 on air, with stock heatsink (new Rad perhaps?)
IF Opp had the same clocks on the 9700, wouldnt that give him the 600 points to be top?

3dmark scores are largely dependant on video cards and the core and memory overclocks...the AMD/Intel race seems to be less a factor than the Nvidia/ATI horse race.
The AMD/Intel race is much more important to me, hehe ;)

Amazing score OPP, congrats!!!! :)
about time Holicho's bugged score got beaten again by a straight one too!
About the radeon clocks : yes mine was faster, which is why I broke 400 FPS in drago low and OPP is in the 390s. The lobby test however doesnt depend on the card and thats the main place where AMD is losing... some more L2 cache would help there.
Also, with the Nforce² its safe to say the AMD chip has the better platform for 3D benching, Intel dual DDR boards are all crap :(

I never thought i'd see an AMd cpu in the top 5, never mind at number 2 in the ORB!!
When the Barton cores come out, with the more cache i think we sould see some more top scores in the ORB with NForce2/AMD combo's!

I think the question is how in the hell did he manage to publish such a score with 8rda and a axp at 294*mhz
maybe the question is how many tries :D
bartons are coming , tbredC are coming
yeah baby yeah :)
nforce2 rules :)

congrat's and take AMD to the top!!!!
same clocks as JcV´s 9700 pro , and extra 10mhz of fsb on the nforce2 a little bit of twekaing the nforfce2 with wpcredit and Jc´s score would be matched if not passed with the same cpu clocks

Awesome score OPP, congrats :toast:
Good to see you where you belong, at the top, together with JC.
Have some :toast: now, you deserve it.

What I need besides a Video card is for the Abit NF7 to give me more voltage (v-core). I can run that mobo all the way to 233 Dual but I have no v-core and it has a problem with certain multipliers.
This EPOS maxes running dual at 218 so I'm screwed on this mobo.

you cant blame EPos for that because its a luck in the draw to get one with a good nforce2 chip
have you tried lapping the northbridge and using some extreme cooling ? :)
some guys say it helps to cool the southbridge too
Opp is going to increase his score a couple 150~+ points :D
so expect 21700+ with same the clocks :D (with luck maybe 21800 )

Hopefully Barton will be able to put it's extra cache to good use without affecting the overclockability. Everytime AMD bring out a new core the overclockability normally heads south. I assume extra cache will not actually do this this time as it is just an addition. Will rpoduce more heat though of course.
Assuming good overclockability then that's probably enough for an AMD user to get even closer to the top ( presumably Opp or Mr Icee at this present time 0.
Although Intel will bring out the P4 3.2 MHz I doubt it will overclock that much better than the 3.06 to be honest. Though Canterwood / Springdale might be THE dual chipset and pop AMD on the chin just as they are once again fighting back.

I thought I might catch you there for a while, but my IT7Max2.2 problems are increasing rather than getting solved:confused:
Well maybe I'll try again tonite:D

SKATAN,
Still haven't tryed the tweaks my man, I'll get to it though:)
Today I'm going to pick up a 80W pelt for the NB and see if it helps the limit on the Dual FSB, the nb is already watercooled. What I need is a pelt on those Mosfets, oooch, those puppies are hot and thats with heat sinks already.

Real basic Thermeltec heatsinks, cut down to fit. I can say they are doing some cooling just do to the fact they a hot which means they're taking in some heat. I have to install my Camara program later and I'll snap some shots.

usb flashcard/memorystick reader = premium solution
no extra soft required + speedy as hell ;)

That poor Radeon of yours.:D
How many points between you and JC??
You must have the record for the most Volt modds in one rig. ;)
Push that puppy, your nearly there.

JC is still a good 400-500 points away, I think I can do maybe 21900 if i get this to run at 225 x 13,, 2900 plus Mhz. then I guess I will resort to Skanton's tweaks, and if I'm still shy I'll just take him down with a bugged Nature score:D
Here's the latest, I had a 302 car run in this score, The orb won't take it though, it came out the wrong CPU speed for what ever reason.

Opp - im stuck the same as you. 218mhz dual mode, 222mhz single channel. 219mhz produces 150 errors per pass in memtest whereas 218mhz is totally clean for 3 hours plus. Very weird. I seem to have exactly the same vdd voltage as yourself (1.88 - 1.89v) having used a fixed 540ohm resistor. Am only using aircooling on the northbridge though. Have semi lapped it, but that was mainly to take out the 2 gouges I managed to put in it (dont ask!).

PiLsY,
I haven't laped it. I did put a 80w pelt on it today and sofar I can to 3D at 223 duals. Up 5Mhz sofar, cooling seems to be the trick.
I have a bad contact right now so what ever I get out of it can and will be improved on.

Way to go OPP :toast:
I havent any way to improve upon my score since both the card and CPU are gone, she's all yours now :D Although those 500 pts arent that easy to get as i'm sure you'll agree. (bugging nature doesnt count obviously ;))
Anyway we're a few weeks away from seeing FX scores, no point for me to spend money I dont have to improve upon a pointless score.... I'm happy what I achieved in the straightest possible way :)
I've had my moment, I'd love to see an AMD and Xtreme top the ranks!
I think I might toss the old P4 out and go for a cheap 8RDA+ and 1700/1800 Tbred B solution. Not for any 3D benching (*cough* GF2 MX400) but to fold a little faster, and I've been benching Intels long enough now ;)
And I blew all my money on the woman and Intel's kinda expensive too ;)

extamd,
Ahhhh...is that board broken in HALF? Hmmmm....bad temper or accident? ;)
I think I understand your level of frustration with GB mobo's!!!!
Seriously, if this was a perfect world I'd have an Abit SiS655 with dual channel ddr400 support, agp8x, 3.2v vdimm, 2.00v Vcore, 8 phase power and the biggest, gnarliest capacitors and heaviest duty VR's available. But that doesn't exist ;)
