View Full Version : x1800XT Time
I just got my HIS x1800XT 512DDR :D
Installed it and ran a quick test on 3DMark01SE and score alittle over 28K. Now that was all settings stock. I had to overclock my CPU to 2.75 with my 6800s to get that score. I started to run into driver issues so I am reinstalling Windows XP right now as I am typing. Will post some screens and results later tonight.

Nice..go clock that bad boy:)
I scored right at around 9K on 3DMark05 still CPU stock and the VGA at 660/780. I am off tomorrow so I got quite a long time to play with my new toy.

congrats on new card... will be looking on with interest :D
I'm probably going to get one some time in april, the prices should be a little better then.
i want the 6800's :toast:
Up to 680/790...haven't changed any voltages yet...
When are people having to increase the voltage for clocks?
Here we go...
250x10.0 @ v1.550
512x4 @ 2.5-3-3-6-2T
Core at 690...
Mem at 800
These are the max OVerdrive will let me do... ATITool locks my system up.

Disable "ATI smart" and "ATI Hotkey" in Services.msc. restart, and then use ati tool to set voltage, and oc tool to set clocks. dont use oc tool for voltage:)

But OC tool will still lower your memory timmings won't it?
33k is decent with only 10x250, dam. I only get a tad over 30k, at 10x260 with a 333 divider, memory at 8-3-3-3. I should try and tighten those timmings i suppose.
Im in the same boat, the CCC lets me go to 690/800, any higher with ATI-tool and i have problems, so it's either the max clock, or AT_tool hates me.

no..ATI tool dont do anything with the timings (i know i thought earlyer). i forgott to share that. when setting oc tool make sure that you have ati tool open as well. and make sure that ati tool reads the same clocks as oc tool by highlighting ati tool. course sometimes when you set lets say 800/800 in oc tool, and then highlight/click on ati tool. ati tool will show 790/800 sometimes. you will then have to set the clocks again until ati tool also reads 800/800. if you set clcoks and mem at the same time, normaly ati tool will folow.(not always) but if you set core first and then mem, the core will jump back 10mhz.....but only ati tool will show you that.
I hope the explaination was not too confusing:)

You said use ATI-tool for volts and the OC-tool? Surely thats wrong, if the OC tool changes timmings, i know ATI-tool doesn't.

NONE of the 2 programs mess with timings guys. i tested it yesterday. people just think so becourse that oc tool dont set the actual clock that you set. thats why i wrote above that you have to use ati tool to SEE the clocks...not to SET the clocks. ati tool will show you the right clock....oc tool can show you 800/800 but ati tool will maybe show you 790/800. then the actual clock is 790/800. thats why people get confused, and think that oc tool mess with the timings...it does NOT.....it just dont set the clocks right:)
#eva2000# use ati tool for volts....use oc tool for clocks...but clock the 2d clocks...(600/700 defult) :)
All these can only be used if ati smart and ati hotkey is disabled.

Well this is pretty pathetic, these cards have been out a while, we need a decent clocking tool.
Also, now my CCC is borked, if i click on ATI Overdrive tab, nothing is there, it says it has not yet been properly initialized.

interesting info will try it.. so to clock 3d use oc tool but set the 2D panel instead (with ati smart and ati hotkey disabled) right ? :)
edit:
Yay, can confirm it works:
In service manage in windows disable ATI Smart and ATI Hotkey services and reboot pc. You loose temp reading in CCC but can use ATI Tool to view temps.
Use X1800 Oc'ing tool and set 3D desired clocks using the 2D panel
Use ATI Tool to only verify and view the 3D clocks are set correctly. So should be same as what you set in X1800 Oc'ing tool.
As you can see it works!
3dmark05 @default 621/747 clocks set in 2D panel of X1800 Oc'ing tool app.

I then tried setting 2D clock in X1800 Oc'ing tool higher in same windows session and got:
650mhz = 648mhz real GPU 3D clock
660mhz = 654mhz real GPU 3D clock
670mhz = 668mhz real GPU 3D clock
680mhz = 675mhz real GPU 3D clock

eva2000# you actely dont need a list. we can just open ati tool to check the right clocks:)
All# a good thing to remember is whenever you wonna set the mem, remember to set the core again, or it will fall back to lower clocks. and when you wonna set the core remember to set the mem clock again, or the same will happen:)
I am trying to get my CPU stable at 2.5 right now...I do not know what I am doing wrong... I have had 2.75 stable on water...
During MemTest 512x4 @ 2.5-3-3-6 Was Error free for many passes so I know it is not the memory. Right now I am running 250x10.0 @ v1.550 to test CPU stability before I go any further with GPU Clocks. My goal right now is to break 35K in 01 and 10K in 05.
As for games...this x1800 whoops my 6800GTs by a long shot. So I guess certain things favor certain cards over others and what not.

Same here UGP, i doubt we will be able to up the volts, these cards run pretty hot.
I just tried the oc utility, at 695/810 05 was fine, almost 9800, then tried 702/820, and i froze in the middle off 05, and gave me a serious errror warning, and said to restart the machine? is that the core or the memory?
I am not sure..I believe that is the core when it just hard freezes...my 6800s did that...It needs more voltage I assume...
My x1800XT doesn't run all that hot...6800s ran hotter than this does.
EDIT:

Really dam.
This is reaching 80odd C load, it's about 56C idle, not messing with fan speed.
Yeah probly the core, ill leave it, and try and up the memory i suppose. Is the memory the same as usual, if it's to high you just get artifacts?
You will get artifacts then...
my 6800s ran about 84C full load.

Or right click My Computer and choose Manage :)
Found an interesting quote regarding ATI Smart.
"The ATI Smart service is a bit more vague, as it is not needed for the ATI SmartGart settings to work. It continually detects system conditions at boot time and adjusts SmartGart settings if needed to maintain stability, but in effect it's just a useless resource hog."
