If you have a prometia, how is money a concern to you?
How about this.
Same chip.
2xRandom $65 pc2700 that will almost undoubtably do 3200 speeds (I have pc2100 that does it) -130 shipped
KT333 board from newegg refurb -40 shipped
Same heatsink.
Same overclock for 120 bucks less.
Now thats value.

do you really think a 2.7ghz P4 will beat a 2.4ghz AXP
my 3.06ghz P4 on an IT7max with DDR 460 or 480 wouldn't beat this rig at anything that wasn't totally SSE2 dependent.
Tweaked!

I'll pit my p// 266 against you, it's pushing every bit of 300;)

I'm sorry I didn't clarify
the P4 was a 1.8A at 3.06
this athlon setup clearly is faster.
and I think I could setup the P4 rig just fine

well i have a 2.53B at 3Ghz Rambus at 158X4
and it clearly beats my other machine with
identical config but a 2400XP+ at 2300Mhz
11.5X200 on KD7-vanilla cas2-2-2 1T
go figure eh ?

Well, that's a mighty nice little AMD xp2100B and I suspect that's gonna' be the hot budget AMD setup in the near future.
However, my P4 rig is very close to yours in price mobo-$84, ram-$83, cpu-$250, hs/f-$30
But it's got 1.2gHz over yours and I can't think of a single benchmark that would make mine look bad...unless there's some Athlon specific benchie:)

Congrats! though...my first OC rig was a xp2200tbred A and I had a heck of a hard time with it at only 2.0gHz....prompting my switch ti INTEL :D
When it's Barton vs. Prescott I may switch back:rolleyes:

My 2.8@3.1 beats my 12x200 Xp in everything but SuperPi. Higher 3dmark, better for games, faster mpeg2->divx 5.02 encoding, in both the first and the second pass. etc.

My right and left fists beat monkeys that whine and cry about how their dog is bigger than my dog.
War Intel!

What's funny about this thread is it's an Intel /amd comparison.
But , unlike most sites, people on this site often own one of each.
