Update with a nature run in 01 with 1ghz on the mem
I disided to make a new thread, course we solved som problems, and i did some more benching:) the other thread turned out to be more like a "helping" thread:) good help that is......thanks "Atomicpineapple" :)
I was able to push the voltage to 1.58 messured with a DMM. this is max for atitool:)
I was able to bench at 823/1000 as max for today.
The card still have lot more in it. max temp under full load at 1.58 was 23 degrees:) water was 3 degrees warm.
Here are some screenies, and some compare links:)

Its a massive bottleneck, had to really push the card to get 20k in 03 due to the lack of CPU power, if my CPU had another 100MHz in it I'd have made 20k at much lower card clocks. And what are we supposed to buy now? Um, an FX-57 on phase would be nice, or a wicked clocking FX60 :D

A big number of transistors inside R520 is used for the new ring-bus memory controller instead of the crossbar classic one.

Ring-bus controller doesn't take as many transistors as one might think. The ultra-threading dispacher and dynamic branching implementation are probably the main reasons.

Thats weird SIOUX, it looks like mine does need a warm up period, although maybe I just didnt give it enough volts to begin with, will have to check further though. Also I just remembered FUGGER posting about raising PCI-E freq with his X1800XL, just tried it on DFI NF4 Ultra and my XT, looks like it'll give performance increases too, with no stability loss (at 115MHz anyway), cant give any numbers yet but its definitely faster.
[XC]Atomicpineapple

Well it looks liek the extra 15MHz PCI-E frequency is worth about 50 points in 3d03 with stock clocks, SIOUX does indeed have a good card, mine isnt even bench stable at 800MHZ 1.5V core looks like max for those volts is about 770 ish.

It's exactly what i have try do, but with a stange result: i can use the 3D clock for OC with the Overclocker tool with or without disable this service, ( so overdrive work in CCC).
but when i disable the service, the 3D clock work allways for OC and the 2D clock don't give me any gain.. problem i can't increase the voltage, cause ATI-Tool do this for the 2Dclock.. I have try increase the 2D clock, the result of bench is exactly the same i have with the 3d clock at stock... I must have miss something.. ( I use Overclocker tool X1K, ATI-Tool 25.10b.)
Problem, after 722Mhz on core i need increase voltage.
And what is the symptom ( on display) of the cold bug?
loc.o
12-14-2005, 11:47 AM
What i use is:
- ATItool 1.24b9
- OC utility
- Cat 5.11
Disable ATI hotkey poller AND ATI smart in services and reboot. Use atitool for voltage adjustments only, dont use it for OC. Set your clocks in 2D tab in OC utility. Make sure that if you change core in the utility you also set mem again. After setting core (and mem) in the 2D tab check speeds in atitool to make sure its set.

Core Voltage

No need for configuration. Just install it. Clocks do not work though. I tried even with the ATI Services disabled and it still resets the clocks back to the 2D when entering 3D for some reason.

Ok i have see what the problem reading the post of Riva by UGP.
I was not set the voltage of clock enough high, by default it's 1.3V for 2D and it jump to 1.4V when entering 3D... ATI tool report 1.275V, i have forget set the voltage higher for clock it ... so it have launch at 1.275V the bench, so crash or artefact.. he he!!!.
I have see the mosffet is around 46°C, i was thinking pehraps use the ALphacool watercool, its use separate cooler for each memory with 3/5mm tubing and a distributor, what do you think is it good too adition the mosffets (voltage regulator)? or there's no issue known when OC with this.

for the power regulators, take a cheap heatsink, use dremel...

ok, thanks,..
It seems this X1800XT like high voltage on memory i was having "Freeze" during first 3D'05bench when the memory is at more of 819Mhz, after increase the voltage of memory, test pass.
Edit:
I haveone ask about the A read in Riva tuner, normally it's 8.18, after OC and during bench, i see it jump at more of 20A...
Tell me it's not taken on the 12V rails fully.!!??? Is this can be the thing can give me crash during bench?.. I have 40A on 2x 12V rails, but the 3700+ is a lot OC and i have many thing using the 12V rails ( around 14Fans 120mm, on the radiators + case, leds etc...)

I ordered my DangerDen x18 WaterBlock and got the HeatBridge as well with it for the Power Regulators.

I cannot get core over 770 with OC-tool. It wil let me set it but both atitool and OC-tool will report 770 after its saved. Tried AQ03 and 3D but scores stay same as with 770 set. Mem clocks/volts dont make difference, tried several. Im using cat 5.12, atitool 025b9 and both services disabled. VPU recover is disabled in CCC as wel. Stock hsf and temps are fine (mid 60's load 770/1.475v). Will try diff atitool and cat later but I am curious if someone else has had simular prob.

everybody: try Ati tool beta 11. can be downloaded from Techpowerup.com
I´m now able to clock the card without disabling the services. there are some good corrections for x1800 cards:) the new ati tool swiches between 2d/3d clocks, and disables ati2evxx.
use driver 5.11 or 5.13. 5.12 doesnt seem to work.

does ATI Tool beta 11 still work if those services are already disabled ?
Does the "Max Clock" part work on Beta 11? Also I assume that it will save voltage settings to profiles as well.

stock voltage for mem is 1.8v correct?
ATI Tool has 2v stock, I will bring it back to 1.8v.

stock mem volt is 2.097v or whatever ati tool says as X1800 oc tool displays mem volt incorrectly it is not 1.8v AFAIK

Memmory is rated by samsung @ 2V
1.8 is undervolting it.

You did. That is correct!
ATITool does not work with the 3D Detection for me. Does anyone else have this problem at all?
And also ATITool reads voltage incorrect slighty... it is off by 0.025 according to RivaTuner.
Stock voltage on core is v1.300 not v1.375.

it will still show up as 600/700 stock (2d clocks) but when you move the sliders to oc it will switch to 3d, but still be showen as 2d

ATI Tool reads the voltage from the card. If it says 2V then the card is running at 2V by default.

So when I set clock speeds it isn't setting it right then...? It sets it when I enter 3D Interfaces correct?

The 2d clocks turn to 3d when entering 3d yes:)
Oh ok, Thanks. I will have to play with it alittle bit.
Do you guys still get the same overclocks using ATITool Vs. Overclocker?
Just wondering which to use when I get the card under its WaterBlock.

well..thats the strange thing here. i sudenly need a little xtra volt just to run 700/800, but my max OC is still the same 823/1000 hehe..:D

I mean ati tool beta 11 and 3d clocks. beta 10 i used 2d clocks:)
See in Beta 10 Clocks didn't work for me.

Wait, lemme get this straight... so ATI purposefully undervolts the RAM? For what purpose?

With ATI-tool 25.11 it's the 2D clock you up, but it's automatically in use when you open the ATI-Tool, look on message appears when the soft launch.

Why not to use ATi Tool for setting clocks? Why use ATi Tool only for voltage? Does "overclocker" tool do something differently to clocks?

still X1800 Oc tool is better for me
i.e. looping ATI Tool beta 11 'show 3d' stress test.
oc'ing using ATI Tool beta 11 max = 762mhz at 1.45v and locks up higher
but using good old method of X1800 Overclocking tool for clocking max i get so far is:
GPU
783mhz at 1.5v
789mhz at 1.525v
796mhz at 1.55v (gpu idle = 46-47C and gpu load = 51-52C)

When I type in clocks in overclocking tool, it doesn't change. In fact, it drops to 480mhz...

01-04-2006, 11:25 PM
you disabled ati services ?
rob[GL]
01-05-2006, 12:01 AM
Yup... services disabled... When I first time ran overclocker, I could change clocks, but past a certain number and the clocks wouldn't actually change... Second time I try overclocker, nothing changes right... ATi Tool 025b11 works good for me though.

woah heavy duty there :)
ok, this might be the ultimate stupid question, but i just have to ask it anyway :)
what did you two (eva & sioux) get on stock cooling with stock volts (1.275/2.0)
as max clocks for gpu & ram via atitool (whatever version?). because i figured
i had the two bummeresque cards ever. one did 637/792 and the other could
only get to 635/757 (maybe 765), both club3d x1800xt 512mb cards... ran in
the same system even...
Well stock volts is actually v1.300 on the core. I myself can't even remember what I was getting on mine at all...
eva2000

ati tool suxs never used it for oc'ing even 601mhz gpu would give me a blank monitor
you can see my ocs at http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=81585&highlight=X1800XT ended up around 689/797 in CCC and 688/801-830 in X1800 Oc'ing tool. At 1.375v GPU stock volt of mem allows my mem to jump from 830mhz to 882-900mhz
