Hi guys.
Will 80w peltier will be enought to cool x800XL ~30c at Idle W/O Vmods?
Cooling on GPU-TT Volcano 9 heatsink.

I'm in a similar situation.
What do you think a Zalman GWB1 Large block can keep cool a 123W pelt and my card (maybe I do the vmod)?

Probably not, more harm then good to put an underrated tec on something. Especially with air cooling.

NOL: What size do you recomend for a peltier?

Thank you.
Here I can buy a 123W pelt so I think it will be good for me at full power.

See a peltier at full blast though, is highly inneficient. You may get good idle temps, but terrible load.

a 226 at 12 volt will be good to cool the core that is what i am going to use on an x1800xl...

I strongly recomend against aircooling TEC for any PC application.

I have a 12V output meanwell running my Tec how can I drop it to half power? I know I can use resisters and so on so forth but other then that how would I do it!

You cant with that PSU.

You "could" use a resistor but it would have to be huge and would need serioud cooling so it didnt start a fire.

You might be able to make a switching PSU to step the voltage down a bit, but thats pretty complicated to make.

I thought that much! Thanks holst

226 at half power.

Ok, how about this 172W unit (http://www.dangerdenstore.com/product.php?productid=89&cat=30&page=1) at 12v, for an x850xt PE?

Thank you.

a 80W TEC took my friends x800xl to +1C~ idle with volt mods...

and the core went upto 500mhz @ +35C full load...

The 12V Meanwell I have does have a Voltage rheostat built in, I am not sure what the range of adjustment is, but it might take you down in voltage to something that is comfortable.
