Ok, its been over 24 hrs since i had my FIOS up and running within DIMES. Now, as you know, i have one VM server down because of dead ram.. Well, that machine is going back online right now..

I noticed because of the increased bandwidth that my fiber connection provides, my points went up significantly... I wouldnt be a bit surprised to see myself hitting close to 95K after tomorrows stats.

Another thing i learned and observed with this fiber is, with standard CAT 5 cable, my upload bandwidth on the other machines wouldnt exceed 1249/KBS.. with a simple switch to CAT6 cable that my monster workstation uses, im back up to 5229/KBS.. Interesting stuff. Cant await to see the stats tomorrow.

Happy Diming guys :)

Yea, the sigs are down at the moment. Haltech, do u mean if I change the cable from my cable modem to Cat6 instead of cat5, my internet connection will be faster?

I doubt it. Your cable is capped probably between 384 and 512K... I have Verizon FIOS.. My cap is 5 Megabit on the upload side and 30 megabit on the download side... I think the use of Cat6 was necessary for the FIOS to get full bandwidth of the upside. After testing it, i was right.

Was hopin to be able to match (ish) you're production, but short of another server dont think its gonna happen :(

Great work though mate :D

Thanks alot my friend.. Bandwidth really makes a difference. My machines are no longer sluggish either, despite maxing out the memory. See you guys in 12 hrs to check stats!

Hmm, looks like I might have to upgrade my cable modem from the 512 Kb upload to the 1 Mb one. I think it’s only 10 bucks extra a month but I’ll have to get a new modem as well. That's about as fast as I can get here. :(

Looks like we finally caught up and passed that famous Canadian Cable. It only took 6 yrs. lol

My cap is 5 Megabit on the upload side and 30 megabit on the download side...
You'r kidding me hè,are you serious, how much do you have to pay for such a line,i have 192kbps upload and 4mbps download and thats for 41,95€,also 10gb data limiet per month, thats pretty poor if i look at your speeds,i can only dream of such a line, the best i can get overhere is 512kbps upload and 10mbps and 30gb datalimiet for 60€,i hope it will change in the future, but i dont have much hope for it.

Haltech, have you ever used cable (optimum online)? Is yours alot faster, cause if it is, I might be able to talk my dad into getting the one 15 Mbps/2 Mbps one.

I told Time Warner, who uses RoadRunner as their Internet, to go piss off. They only offered me 512K up/ 6 meg down for 44.95 a month.. FIOS kills em at that price.. For $69.99, Roadrunner would bump me to 8 meg down, no change on the upside.

If you guys have Verizon in your area, i highly recommend looking out for the FIOS.. SBC is supposed to be coming out with something to compete called Lightning.
