i try 170 with 3G and the score on game 1 went up like 5 FPS when it started but blue screen follows...
dual core will serious take over single core...

Wow...2.9ghz DC Opty > 3ghz SC Opty by almost ~1000 points ... Nice Find.

nice find there....it's only gonna get better for dual cores......good time to own dual core OpterOWN for me :D

I assume the gains are in GT1 and GT2 ? Bigger improvement than I thought, although I assume this mainly helps in 05 rather than 03. I would imagine Far Cry gets a boost as well.
As the next 3dmark is supposed to be dual core based then it looks like the dual core FX60 (?) will be all the rage ......

seems latest forceware drivers optimised for dual core seem to optimise for 3dmark05 as you don't see that much boost from actual games if you read some of the reviews
i should have my Opteron 170 CCBWE 0544XPMW cpu tomorrow so can also test against FX-57 and Opteron 146 :)

hmmmm if forceware support dualcore on 3Dmark05, then games should got some help too. but i am not really sure about this. just like my name, guess

Guys....
First, this isn't 3dmark05 dependant, it'll be the same on ANY 3dmark when using NVidia cards. 3dmark01-03-05 are all singlethreaded, try it yourself...Anyone with an ATi card can test that out themselves, they'll find I'm correct. The only part of 3dmark05 that is multi-threaded is the CPU test, the 3d test is 100% singlethreaded.
NVidia has been using multi-threaded drivers lately, and with every new revision the gain for going dual core increases. This happens with ANY game, and ANY benchmark... One of the reasons I'm eyeing a new dual core opteron myself, a free boost like that doesn't sound bad to me!
hi
would u be able to run the test again with the 146 @ 2.9ghz?
that way we would get a direct comparison as the FSB + clock speed is the same
and we could work out how many % dualcore has adv

guess2098, can you upload these to the ORB or does the Dual Core Opty come up as an unknown CPU?

yeah very impressive, great news for CPU's.
Is there any news on ATI making X2 boosts in there Cats?

unknow CPU, and cuz i am still in top 4 XD
don't really wanna publish XD

So far all dual core opterons don't publish so if you can publish your 170 2k5 score can you do so for a few min to the orb?

Not currently, it's NVidia only... If ATi follow suit it'll be about 6-12 months before it makes it's way to us. Multithreaded coding takes major time, and NVidia has been working on theirs for over a year.

you guys talking about platform drivers or graphics drivers here
i've got the Expert board coupled with a dual core Opteron and X800NP card.....i'll be doing some testing with 3DMARK05......initial test at stock looks good...i'd say i'll be giving my 2.9GHz Opteron score a good hard run for its money with 2.6GHz dual core Opteron :toast:

well testing my Opteron 170 i realised chances of dual core opteron doing 2900mhz is alot less than single core opteron or fx-57 doing 3000-3100mhz, so realistically dual core still has some way before catching single core Opteron or FX-57 for average user

in my case dual core definately beat single..........
i beat my Opteron 144@2900MHz with dual core at 2600MHz and SLOWER clocks on GFX card (ATI X800NP)
Opteron 144@2900MHz single core + GFX OC was 439/1164........5,035 points
Opteron 165@2600MHz dual core + GFX OC was 429/1104.........5,065 points :D
amazing

as long as they clock OK under phase i guess.........as people are benching their FX57 PCs around 4GHz mark..........but with newer drivers optimised for dual core there's no doubt
have a look at this.......................i took a screenshot of my dual core at 2.6GHz (FX60 speed) against Jaffa's 3.41GHz Opteron and my CPU scores are still better than his ......it will be very interesting to see first FX60 benchmarks for sure

I was comparing my old scores, and found that my old score of 14965, with a 3.3 ghz A64 3700, OCZ VX 4000 at 235 cas 2-2-2-5-1T... and the videocard at 585/1450...
was easily beat by my Dual Core Opteron at 3.03 ghz... 2 gigs of Mshkin PC4000 at 260 cas 3-4-3-8-1T and the videocard only at 513/1370... daily speed.
from what I just saw, I see no reason at all that I can't beat my current best of 15450, with this Opteron 170 cooled alittle better, and switch out to my VX 4000 ram, and get the clock speeds back up to 621/1450...
might actually break 16,000 with this.
weird.
one note though.
CPU score without AMD 64 driver = 8400.
CPU score with AMD 64 driver =7800.
definatly avoid the A64 driver, in this case.

nice results with your one..........tell me what you meant by AMD driver....is that a separate download or a part of nvidia chipset driver package.....i assume it's the earlier one
also i can't find for the life of me those memory tweaks you or OPB or ben805 or someone here mentioned....apparently there were a few bios tweaks which are DUAL CORE CPU ONLY tweaks...would be nice to know what they were again....thought i'd ask someone who's likely to know this

the AMD64 CPU driver is on AMD's website.
supposedly it gives huge boosts to PCMark2005 scores, but is useless for everything else.
so far, it hasn't helped me on anything, and in most cases brought my scores down.
the only other tweak I know of for dual core, is to add /usepmtimer to your boot.ini.
but again, that did absolutly nothing for me either...
so I haven't found a successful dual core tweak yet.

dinos 3dmark05 cpu score can fluctuate alot and isn't comparative by a long shot i.e. here's my
Opteron 146 @3061mhz with 3dmark05 cpu score = 7484
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm05=1448541
FX-57 @3120mhz with 3dmark05 cpu score = 8,141

So, Nvidia multithreaded drivers are really taking advantage of both cores.
Nice
hmm, interesting dual core is really so much better. Obviously my next buy is definitely dual core. The only problem with opterons is cold bug at rather high temps. Was it the same with X2?

5.12 driver is a killer dual core driver...........i got PBs left right and centre.......even managed a 30K score with a 12 pipe x800 vanilla card on 3DMARK01 and my PB 5288 point 3DMARK05......love dual cores

Yeah the average opty dual core will do 2.7ghz and the average opty will do 3ghz so do a test with those speeds
