hey, i posted this on futuremark but maybe i can get some help from the pro's here..., heres my main issue, ive tried all 3 bios...currently im on the beta..heres the problem..
i wanna do a small oc for now untill i get aquainted with a new graphics card and case...so i decided id up my fsb to 166 and lower the multi..for starters, i have a 2400+, a7n8x deluxe, and 2 sticks of corsair xms 3200 1.1 ram. now heres where the problem starts, i go into my bios, (by the way, i have the 1001e bios flashed over my 1001c bios the board shipped with). here are my settings
halt on [no errors]
cpu external freq. (MHz) [166 MHz]
cpu freq multiple setting [user defined]
cpu freq multiple [14x]
system performance [user defined]
cpu interface [aggressive]
memory freq [sync]
memory timing [user defined]
sdram active precharge delay [5]
sdram ras to cas delay [2]
sdram ras precharge delay [2]
sdram cas latency [2]
cpu vcore setting [menu]
cpu vcore [ 1.70]
everything else is stock...im running on this pc in windows right now but instead of saying athlon xp 2324 MHz..it says athlon xp 1800+ 1500 MHz! i seriously am stumped, i dont know whats up with my multiplier.. thanks guys

It sounds like your 14x mult is not working & is mapping to another mult such as 9x. It would be easiest to check this in windows w/ a program such as WCPUID. It looks like you've got your FSB set right...I'm just thinking w/ all the "mult issues" I've been reading w/ the NF2's that maybe yours isn't workin properly :)

I would agree. You need to either unlock the 2400 or get the latest beta BIOS 1002 which seems to unlock most of the multipliers.

i am running on the beta bios and wcpuid shows the multi at 15x for EVERYTHING...im going to check if my chip is locked (extremely doubtful of that) but i was under the impression the multi on nforce2 and tbred works in ranges...(i.e. 13x and up for my 2400+)

that's what i suggested over FutureMark. Your mobo sets low bit multi for some reaon. get 1002 Beta bios, that should fix your issues.

I have almost no experience with nf2 boards, but I have an idea (probably wrong).

If everything is reporting a 15x multi, and your speed is 1500, is it possible your mobo is setting your bios to failsafe defaults?

Maybe it has one of those "You are too dumb to overclock" things, where if you max your chip, it loads the failsafe bios so you don't have to clear the CMOS. I have heard of a few mobos doing that (mostly supermicro server mobos) so they can remain up, if not fully functional.

Just an idea, feel free to shoot me.

he's one of those "ILL WAIT FOR OFFICAIL BIOS" people but wants everything from the non-beta one's also he'll kill the mobo so he can RMA it for a new one but still wont flash to a beta bios, lol...

Didn't he say he is using a beta bios, and where did he decide to kill the mobo?

setting lower mults only work with the 1001c bios (of the official releases anyway) reflash back to that bios and your problems will disapear.
