to make a long story short, crimedog (over @ OCForums) is lending me his P4 640 and i'm sending him my 660 for some sub-zero testing, and anyways, by nature, i bust out AI Booster and start clocking the 640 to see how well it does...
lets just say i almost shat my pants when i got this:
http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc?id=51083
thats watercooled with a Storm G5 and 1.55v :slobber: :slobber: :slobber: :slobber: :slobber: :slobber:
crimedog... i hope you know that you have one hell of a 640 right there... i don't know if i wanna keep this or my 660 ROFL

lol, whats the defualt volts for that cpu...i live on amd's :p:
if its around the 1.3v give that kid more, 1.9v is safe on water isnt it? :p:
but, nice clocking, hf

temps?

default voltage is 1.4v, and i tried 1.6 (dont wanna go further/fry a CPU that i'm borrowing) and it didn't get me a higher OC... but i think that 4.8 off of a 640 is plenty already :woot:
and temps never exceeded 41ºC in AI booster

someone on another forum asked for the same OC with my 2gb kit of RAM, so i'll share it with you guys: here's the CPUz dump for my set of OCZ 2x1gb DDR2 (OC'd a bit higher on the FSB than the mushy @ 1.55v :slapass: )
http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc?id=51112
edit: even with my room at 19ºF, i never got any higher than i did before, so i think i've topped this out on water cooling... but god damn is it an amazing CPU

very nce indeed, as stated above Im amd all the way but its always nice to see ubber clocks on aging hardware, without sick cooling, water cooling @ this speed is ownage.

my 640's stock is 1.3875V, and it does 4ghz/w 1.4V what stepping is the 640 you're using?

CPU Intel Pentium 4 2537 MHz
Looks quite buggy :stick:

^^^ yep Intel finally got it right with the 6x0 series although I wouldn't say the DO 5x0 series are any slouch consider my 550 does 4ghz on 1.425v and stock cooling.
Cant wait to see what Cedar Mill does though.

Very nice score
it's like my 650, perhaps also little better :woot:
- Summer, July...approximately 27° Tamb:
4600Mhz dissy boxed
4758Mhz air with zalman
4939Mhz Tec cooling (TEC 226W - 13,5V - Twater 32° - Temp at system off max -11° - Vcore 1.7V real under load - Temp during system on under 1M Pi 18/22° very hot :p: )
all stable only for 1M PI.... I must still have the screen from some part :woot:
however, nice cpu sneaky...compliments
P.S. - sorry for bad English :slapass: :p:

That memory should to tight timing at that speed.
Kick the memory votlage to 2.2v and drop the timing to 3-2-2-4 4 recover and see if it boots.

"supposedly", CM does 4.3-4.4ghz on it's stock Intel heatsink
IIRC its a SL7Z8 China
nice, same stepping as mine, but you should try shutting down some background programs and such, @ 4.32ghz I can beat your score /w super pi 1.3 (27s ,havent gotten arround to get 1.4) :stick:

I got a 640 cpu and the most I can get out of it to boot is 265 FSB, CPU: 1.5v CHP: 1.8v higher volts don't help. It will POST up to 4.8Ghz 300FSB but locks up or reboots with a black screen, HDD light is always solid on attempted bootup. I am using a PCI card and an IDE drive. I seen on the 915 roundup on anandtech they got my board to 300FSB. Any advice how to get my CPU to boot at higher FSB?
Sneaky
11-27-2005, 01:04 AM
i booted into windows @ 280 FSB and then used AIBooster on the asus board to get it to where i got a verified screenie of it
with your DFI board and the 915 chipset, you'll be hard pushed to OC any further with that - 915 chipset has no AGP/PCI lock, so i'm surprised that its over 250 FSB and still stable from what i've seen before
otherwise, try and find a clockgen for your board or some in-windows OCing gizmo

BIOS have vastly improved with this board to help with ocing. I am not using any PCI-E card currently, got a voodoo 3 2000 PCI in there now while I wait for my GT to arrive, even before with my PCI-E BFG GT I got it to the exact speeds stable. I looked all over for a Windows clockgen and all I could find is one for the 925XE-T2V.
