Hey, if my water is chilled to -25, will I be able to use a eheim 1048?? - Or wont it work at that temp, the pump is to be in the res, so its gonna be quite cool...
Thanks

Enheims are pretty good quality. I have a cheapo Home Depot $40 185GPH unit in my resivoir, works OK. So far so good. Not sure the flow is that great at -25c though.

using any pump in a chiller submerged as oppposed to inline is highly not reccomended, the heat dump is much greater and it's alot harder on the pump...inline is a much better choice for chilling.

Well, im getting a chiller to prevent noise..
28L bay.. :)
The guy Im buying it from is currently on a new mission, building a cascade for sub 1000 DKK, thats around 140 USD..
So I would might be able to buy one for 2500DKK later on (theres quite a job in making them..) @ 400USD...
And might do for benchies... But for 24/7 I need low noise..
But will the pump be able to run? - I simply dont know if it'll freeze

the pump will work but maybe it gets some damage with time, so its going to leak or something but when u put it in a resorvoir and leave it for such things its no problem, had a chiller here which got -33C and it was no problem, till anti freezer freezed ;)
dont use antifreezer for mixture just use alcohol with 95%+ works much better.

And watch your tubing if you`re using alcohol-based coolants ;)

I had the 1250 slow down at -26 with a 50/50 mix of antifreeze non submerged

Submerging pumps is fine. If you are chilling coolant then designing for a few more watts of load is a non-issue. My cheap 1200lph pumps ok at -30. Admittidly it can't start on it's own - the antifreeze makes for a more viscous liquid. But once started the pump won't be turned off anyway.
Can't comment on the Ehiem pump - too much for my blood (3x the price of my pump)
