As title say i got some card from rma. This 6800U has managed to do 600/1366 3d05 run without much effort @-20c inside chillbox. The funny thing is that this card still got stock cooling with no As5 applied and original white pads on ram. My previous card toped out at 521 core on WC inside the chiller @-28c.

But it only sounds good. The card is throtling like hell with temps below 0c. I mean look at my 3d05 score :( . Cpu is almost stock but still that should be at least 2x score with these clocks .Its half what i score with less clock.

Now i modified bios cause this card had coldbug going into windows with -c temps. I used the "6600gt temps trick" for the card be able to boot to windows. Now this is fixed and i can load windows easy. But the throtling problem i cant figure out.

Once i disable temps monitoring in Nibitor the card fails get into widows and gets locked just before windows about to load. I hear that using "disable temp monitoring" should help with throtling but there is noway i can try that out, it locks up @ -c temps with this option on boot. My previus card never had this issue. I remeber Shamino had similar issues but somehow he solved that, lol probably got diferent cards

I might try to flash 6800GT bios but i dobt it would help. Man if i can only figure it out how to run this beast with -c temps i could score way more then before. If anyone can help or point something out for me that be greatly appreciated.

its like this:

dont start any nvidia program in windows or autostart just flash the card with the clockrates 600/1360mhz and boot up as often until there is NO throttling then u can bench everyting but dont open up any nvidia stuff in win.
you can see the throttling when the log in screen comes if its throtling reboot and reboot until ITS NOT.

then bench and get some nice score ;)

um i got to explain better. Its throtling cause of cold temps. Even 450/1200 my score is way lower then when benchmarking with normal temps at same speed. I try d making bios with higher speed, but that tjust prevents the card from droping the clock. The issue here is that with -c temp on any clock the card just stumbles. I think it's called thermal throtling.
Now i need to find out how to disable this option in bios. Using "disable temp monitoring in nibtor" i cant load windows @-c temps heh so i'm kind of stuck here  .
I realy dont understand why it has to be so frkn hard. Will probably have to get a dif card ;(

card is throttling due to heat (cold or high temps) or voltage (low volt, bad psu, maybe IC+mosfets cant handle)

i had a 6800GT MSI @ Mach2 and exactly the same problems but when i re-booted many times until it wasnt throttling it worked well there is no other trick to get it running it maybe can be that your card is throttling always with cold but i dont think so so re boot windows as many times needed, and dont let it open any nvidia stuff at start like rivatuner or powetrstrip or anything else...

also try other drivers and so on maybe it helps

I run my 6800Ultra @ 565/1250Mhz, with Mach II installed on it.. 1.67v to gpu.

Check this out. This card is realy insane. Now i realy pushed it. hadfew memory artefacts ;) But it passes 3d mark. I think its a WR for mem clock on 6800Ultra AGP. But the damn think throtles like hell.
I tried all ,disable nv driver service, cleaned my startup from nv files. I can get into windows mayby once in 20 times with bios that dont throtle. But then i got a lockup lol i think i got my cpu to high,
Anyway this su**s it should not be that hard. It is a setting in bios or drivers that makes card throtle at certain temps. I use to run my 6800U 24/7 for monts at these temps without a single issue
I need Nvidia to hook me up with bios................. :fact: :D

If you not have done the vmod that gives the gpu 1.67v that clock is not going to happen. Shimano ran his 6800U @ 600Mhz core with -90c.. I run my card at 565Mhz core with -40c..

Your card must be throttling because it just cant operate at that high clock.. try to run a test at 540/1200....!

What 2D and 3D clocks are set in the card's bios?

Railer, its same Dyn from eocf.
Get me the bios so I can check it out. ;)

I know its trotling since i could not run this speed before. CArd bios set 600/1400 but it does not matter it does not drop the clock. All it does is just drops FPS while i benchmark. Like i sayd no matter what clock its throtles if the temps are below -1c. I did monitoring with Riva and clock stays. I also set constant performance on with rivatuner its the same as making bios at high speed, when you use this option the card dont drop 2/3d clock aT ALL.

Now i even tried to set 1 prfomance level in bios to 100% in 3d but that did not help ether. I need to take off Core slowdown @ -c temps. The only way is with moding bios. I'm realy starting to get tired with this card. It runs 460/1250 24/7 on stock bios without a single lockup 43idle/@56c load. Sweet card but not for the -c temps

How many performance lvls you have in that bios.

I had a 6800LE with a broken temsensor once. The fiilrate was exactly 50% of what it should be and the scores were just a little over that. Rivatuner showed no change in corespeed but I was able to run benchmarks with the stock cooler at like 600-700mhz.

At 650mhz I got the normal 6800LE score.

If you have the balls you can set 3D clock to 200% of what you want to set it at. Remember to leave 2D clock at the normal speed because throtling only occurs during 3D. I had some stability problems going from 3D to 2D, probably because it sets the frequency to the real 200% for a msec. That's why I returned the card.

well i finaly figured out this Throtling issue. Actualy i just did what andL64 told me ,to try to boot to windows as many times as i can. So i only vmoded my original bios, disabled temp monitoring and set 1 performance level.

Now every 3d time windows loads :D I hold AT+Ctrl+ F4 when booting. Dont know how much it helps but it works. So the throtling issue is gone and as you gues i can no longer bring the core to 640  Only 521 so far.
But the memory on this card is insane. I was able to benchmark 3d05 521/1500 but got a hang when submitting thre scores. So far i managed 521/1472 3d05 bench stable on this card. I think its a WR on memory for 6800's benchable.
However i cant seem to bring my Dothan to the speed i had it before which was 2880 1:1 2.4.4.5 for 3d benching. With 288fsb cpu did way better in 3d05 than what im able to achive now which is 2666 1:1 3.3.3.8 with 2g of ram ;)
It's ether my MB or the adapter and i get no PAT over 230 on this p4p. So big cpu downgrade for now. Will get p4c800-e deluxe and new adapter next week , hope it will help.

So there is a new score with this card only 300 points lower then my previous mainly due to cpu. This 6800Ultra rocks
