My 2600+, XMS3500C2, and Thermaltake Smart Fan 2 (75CFM) arrived this morning, and before putting in the 2600+ I thought I'd try the new memory and fan with my TBird 1.33 that I've been running for a couple of days since selling my POS 2400+.
Well I got another 42MHz out of the cpu, the cold weather let my GF4 core go 3MHz further, and that together with a fresh benchmarking setup on a spare hd and more attention to LODBias ;) gained me 600 marks on my old score. :D 13166 (http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=5595449) is pretty close to the top TBird/Nvidia score on the ORB I think (it's hard to tell because so many XP's are indentified as ordinary Athlons).
'Tis almost a shame to retire this cpu now, it overclocked better than my 2400+ did! (246Mhz vs 228MHz). The only thing wrong with it was that only the 8.5 multiplier seemed to work really well (won't even post at 8x185!). Weird, maybe that's because I used to run it at 8.5x166 most of the time?
But 2600+ action beckons! :D
BTW, in case you're wondering I sold the 2400+ to a friend who's not at all interested in overclocking, so nobody got duped. ;)
